water in my headlights GQ

Hi all after some deep water crossings on the weekend my head lights have got water in them. There is a small hole in them for an older style of parking lights that doesn't have a bulb and lets water in. Do you think it would be o.k to silicone up that hole without any adverse effects? It's not a real drama but I have to take the whole grill out to get to the lights....oh and yes I have tried finding a good bit of hill to drive up to drain them but you would need to be alomost vertical

Remove and drain out. Do not wipe the reflector with anything.
If stained rinse with rinse aid and clean water.
If you cant remove or too lazy, suck out water with a bit of hose and dry by leaving lights on for a while. Let cool to ensure no condensation forms.
Yes put tape or a round disk over hole and smear silicone on the edge of that.
Some silicone sealers give off fumes that may 'bloom' the reflector.
Also ensure the boot over the globe is clean and covers the taped area.
Old covers off early HQ holdens etc are bigger and seal better than the small Nissan ones .
(If fitted at all. A whole batch of Nissans came in to Oz with no rubber globe boots years ago!.)

Removing grill is pretty easy, turn all the squre plugs and they pop out. Reinsert into grill ist and turn to seat.
(You can also replace all the push turn plugs with square plugs with holes in them and use self tappers if you want.)
