V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
Hi Guys,
destroyed my clutch on the weekend!!! nothing worse then gettin flat towed home!!! that was the second trip i did with that clutch and its already shit itself... so obviously not heavy duty enough for my application...
i just want to know what clutch combo all you V8 guys are running???
ive got a 5lt turning 37"'s... theres heaps of guys with 350 chevs and bigger on here so just curious to get some feedback...
its been suggested i go for the 10 1/2 INCH chev clutch kit by RPM apparently its and off the shelf kit made for the 40's thats pretty good????
thanks
joe

Re: V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
The Exody should have lasted for ages.
I run an Exody Sports Tuff 308 clutch and it has so far handled 4 years of abuse, when the motor was out recently it looked hardly even worn.

Just a nasty tin one supplied by Marks, and it wasn't on there for at least half the time,
This is my clutch when I pulled it out recently,

Re: V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
Exedy is working a treat in mine too, I had the pressure plate modified to clamp a lot more and the clutch plate I'm now running is an Exedy Dyna truck (it has bigger/stronger springs)
The peddle is heavy but it locks up grouse and has no slip at all.
It's been in for 2 years now.

Re: V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
well there you go... thats looks fine and you didnt have a cover on for half the time...
HG - are you running a flywheel cover???
the reason i brought up water damage is because before is shit itself i was in a really deep boghole and thats when is started to slip... then it dried out a bit, i got friction/drive back in about 5-mins of having the motor running trying to dry it out... then the next boghole destroyed it
with this new clutch assembly im getting, i can get it mirror balanced to my old clutch assembly cant i????
thanks for the info guys....

Re: V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
Doesn't really matter what brand or style of clutch you are running, changing gears in deep water (assuming this is what you did) will fark most of them. A decent inspection cover will help somewhat but will not seal completely.
Re: V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
yeah i guess so...
ill just have to seal it up as best as i can...
thanks

Re: V8 CLUCTH SUGGESTION...
Yep I have made a flywheel cover that is silicon-ed, the clutch fork has a rubber boot that is sealed with silicone too.
I took the gearbox out a couple of weeks ago to check the clutch (yearly service time) and it was clean as in there and the clutch/pressure plate are in grouse condition.
