QLD Mickey Thompson SSS Winch Challenge RD 1 2011

Post by SSS Winch Challenge »

We had talked about holding the first round in January. However due to other commitments etc & feedback from competitors we were trying to get early March. Due to prior commitments at the Park we have been advised that the only date available is:

25 - 27 February 2011

Venue: Landcruiser Mountain Park

Nomination fee: $200

Will post Rules & regulations & forms shortly.

If you need any further information please contact Stirlo on either 0439885807 or ssswinch@gmail.com

Cheers

Slerlo , round 1 dates look ok for Dave and me at this stage, I am commited to 4 rounds with WTC this year. If possible can you have a look at there dates so they dont conflict If they dont count us in for your rounds and GPS ones. Brian

No worries Brian. Can assure you that our dates won't conflict with any WTC dates. We will post the other dates in the next few weeks.

Yes but it conflicts with XWC.

Pity.

How many people does this effect. Is there anybody wanting to do XWC and SSS? Let the organisers know and maybe if it effects enough people dates could be changed. It does not effect me. Lawrie

Dear Sterlo & MMM .; not taking sides and it is very rare that i make these sort of comments in open forum as are beloved sport and events dont need negitive comments or feed back , but it seams crazy to me when history has shown that the last 2 years SSS & XWC entry numbers have been at a all time low , that a date clash is the last thing needed ... a couple of years back 30 starters was classed as full event [ and sometimes as a cap ] .. but both have now been run with sub 10 starters . Also in the past quite offer the round 2 & 3`s have been set up not to clash with the OBC & ATECO . Please remember while all this is going on the VIC boys & girls cant race at all so i hope by the time round 2 comes around that its all worked out so there can 15 plus starters at both the events , as i am sure some people would like to do both events and not have to choose , i know if i am able to race again this year that i had looked at doing both ROUND 1`s . ........ I will be doing SSS. Not as far to travel and I hear a few of the top teams are doing SSS as well. Talking to past competitors and they say Stirlo runs a great event, it's family friendly and I have not heard of one unhappy team.

It's a bummer that both events are on the same weekend as they are both great events. It's interesting what the difference in fees are between both events mmm's is nearly double what do you get for that extra money?

Sure, SSS Entry Fees maybe cheaper but take a look at the big picture.
MMM Entry Fee includes your park entry and camping. If you pay SSS entry fee + Landcruisers entry fee, I think you will find it might work out to be dearer.

$25 day trip per vehicle/day rate
6 - 7 nights camping $225

do all you guys/gals drive your winch trucks to lcmp now or do you leave your tow rigs at the office considering, you need to pay for your tow rig to enter lcmp, which would work out heaps dear if you take them in.....

Bob You hit the nail on the head Hopfully some of the Vic's will come up hear. I don't think the dates are an issue All the organizers off the events should talk to each outher. Maybe combine two events in one like a 5 day event mid year. and have a $500/$700 entry and each team to sponcer a stage at $200. 30 teams Thats $6k thats makes up the prize money and some of the entry round it of to $10k you will fill 30 teams no problem. I am keen to help out.Maybe the propety at lowmead is a good spot.
Anyway enough dribble see you at round one SSS. Brian/Dave
