Loctite - so many freakin' choices

I'm trying to get my head around the plethora of Loctite choices there are

... all I want to do is seal my diff drain plug and various other nuts/bolts.

The website has 20 different variations of threadlocker. Which one's the most suitable?

Also there are threadsealers as well.

As I am doing my diff plugs, do I want a sealer or a locking solution? Or should I just use plumbers thread tape instead?

ive never used anything apart from a seal washer you can get them from most auto stores in many sizes for around a dollar in either soft alloy or fiber type

plumbers tape is not good at all for that and messy when you undo it again

for each of yours apps there is always going to be a diffrent way to do it depending if its to lock it, seal it or for coolant parts or oil or just asssembly they each differ in there product needs

I'd be loooking at thread-sealers mate. If you use a locker it will make it pretty hard next time you wanna undo the plug.

I'm about to change the diff fluid and I might just not bother with any sealant as it seems to be fine without it.

I know after I changed mine a few MONTHS later it started to leak.

It was very minimal, we just ended up tightening it more, even though it was still very tight it fixed it

Yeah don't worry about it unless it is actually leaking.

Nissan use a Teflon based white goo in a tube.

the nissan ones that go in and have the square drive in the top dont leak as they taper in very well, if its a bolt type that you could put a washer under, just put a copper washer under it.

Yeh Loctite make a white non hardening sealant, but farked if I can rememeber the number for it!! It comes in a white tube, stopped the filler plugs from weeping on my GU diffs.

you really need to talk to someone who sells/actually deals with loctite professionally, there are so many different types for different things

the white stuff is 567 master pipe sealant a PTFE ( teflon ) based compound my plugs on my 60 diff have only 3 mashed up flanks due to having to be belted off with a chisel and oxy, i just get foot of gas teflon the yellow stuff twirl it around to make a rope and rap it around the base of the plug thread to make a teflon washer nip it up and never leaks or seizes on if you do go the copper washer you should re anneal them after they have been removed and installed a few times they wok harden and dont seal as well require shitloads more torque merry xmas andy

yeah we use that stuff at work 567 on air fittings. i prefer to call it ( elephant spoof )

577 is the sealent that hardens.

Alot better
