pearce simpson super lion mk II...i have questions?

my mate gave me a pearce simpson super lion mk II that seems to be in good condition . im going to install it but it does not have an antenna but has everything else. i think its just a cb radio is that right? whats the difference between this thing and a uhf radio? is it worth using and what can i expect from it ? any info on it would be good...

27MHz transceiver AM/SSB. UHF is at 477MHz using FM. Will not talk to each other (like AM/FM car radios - different frequency bands and transmission methods).

Will need a 27 MHz antenna and should be good to go. If you can find someone with a SWR meter to tune the antenna then it will go even better.

There are still people using the 27MHz band and there was a thread in chit-chat recently about it (last 4 weeks or so)

the WA suzuki club use AM cos no one uses it over here - so its easy not to find other people on your channel.

downside is no one has a handheld AM radio =)

thanks everyone. looks like ill put this one to the side and ill be shopping for a new uhf so i can keep up with the trends . i dont know anyone else with these so its not going to be much help to me .
