The guy may have a legitimate gripe but then again, he might not. He's bitching about a whole lot of people not supporting his business when he thinks they should, but then he refers to them as having "short man syndrome" or being "queers", "pommies" and "wogs."
If he has all those underlying prejudices, the people he was dealing with might have picked up on it and, strangely enough, not liked him. And not liked dealing with him. Being a hate-filled prick isn't necessarily good for business after all. It doesn't make people want to support you.
I guess we'll never know. The author doesn't come across as someone you'd want to shoot pool with though.
