22R rebuild costs
Got a bundy with a 22r that needs a rebuild. What sort of cost would I be looking at to do a rebuild on the motor and get the carby rebuilt as well?
it would be difficult to economically rebuild those motors. better to replace them with an imported motor with more power that will use less fuel. for a full rebuild of either motor including headwork, new pistons, rings, rebore, all bearings, gaskets and seals, including labour, you'd be looking at well over $3000, might get it in under $2000 if you do all the work yourself.

i just got my done by motafit, a company that specialise in motor rebuilds, change over cost 2000, thats everything new but then i had me radiator redone and carby redone ...all up was 3000 but it was worth it cause goes hard now

Phone up Repco, they do have fully reco exchange short motors for well under 3000. Swap your parts onto the short motor, place your old motor in the crate and deliver back to them, all good. Then just change the engine number with DOT. 18R might be getting a little rare, but 22R should be more common. Carby rebuild should be around 250-300
Built, not bought.
