Oil filter sandwhich adaptor
Hi am looking for a sandwhich adaptor to suit my 80 1HDT oil filter thread to fit a decent oil pressure guage and oil cooler. They didn't look over complicated can a local machine shop be able to do it? I've seen them for other cars and they have 4 inlets outlets on em and can either remote mount filter or just use the inlets outlets for what i want. Cheers.

Be far easier and cheaper to just buy one.. What size is the tread on the oil filter?
There is a heap of universal ones available that are far cheaper then what you could make.

I think you'll find the oil filter thread is m24. I haven't seen an adaptor listed with this thread. I have toyed with the idea of making an adaptor and buying a sandwich plate but to date its only an idea.

The diesels already have oil coolers fitted (oil to water heat exchanger, its an oil core that sits in the water jacket under the alloy plate the oil filter screws onto), for your oil pressure guage you can remove the sender for the factory gauge or use a 'T' piece if you want use the factory gauge as well. There is an adapter available that allows you to use a Z9 oil filter but then the bypass oil doesn't get filtered.

I don't understand why the bypass oil doesn't get filtered on a Z9, they're both filters to me that i thought would be basically the same. Learn me please. I didn't see any to suit 24mm thread in there. Those are mainly remote mount, i don't really wanna move the filter just have easy access to run two lines in and two out. I need some technical info wether having these lines before the filter will effect the filtration of the oil. The ones i've seen have a cross section that would divide the inlets outlets. They look basic enough in pictures but not 100% till i get one in my hand.

That Safari cooler looks pretty impressive, but it's probably got an impressive price tag too. I seriously doubt Safari would sell you the adaptor plate on it's own. Just tee into the OEM oil pressure sender for your aftermarket gauge, it worked a treat on my previous multivalve 80...

Already have tee'd into oil pressure sender for gauge and haven't figured out a return line for the cooler. The outlet from the tee ain't big enough for my liking for good flow to and from oil cooler so the safari thermostat plate is ideal as i don't want the oil flowing to the cooler when cold. I'm sure it would be bloody pricey, could get one made but i need to figure out the thermostat and how to get the oil flow right in the plate so its not just a plate that does nothing.falco80 wrote:That Safari cooler looks pretty impressive, but it's probably got an impressive price tag too. Reserecting an old thread. An australian made sandwich plate to fit engines useing the ryco z334 filter is now available on ebay. Excellent fit and finish,and a comprehensive unit at a reasonable price. The first one I have ever seen the correct size for the 1HZ ,1HDT series of engines.
