Td42 v td42t precomp chambers

Post by gnu »

Hi I asked this on the patrol forum but I'll try my luck here. Can you safely use td42t chambers in a td42 head as they are bigger, it has a aftermarket turbo fitted, cheers

I thought they were same same? How are they bigger? If they are deeper/longer then that is normal as the machinist will surface them to the correct height.

They have a tendency to crack, the larger outlet may reduce the heat retained in the chamber and help with the cracking.

They are a lot different, hence why people turboing N/a motors always say they are cracked when they pull the head off.

Soooooo many people make this mistake when building a big engine from a N/A package

if your going to only lightly turbo it then the smaller ones can help with low down power and fuel economy.
i suggest have a hunt around, most likely there is a range of different sizes that can fit. i know a few Toyota guys that experimented with different sized ones with some good success.
