Just thought id get a start on my project
I have an 1980 hj45 which i have had for about 10 years but still love the girl and the stories we have together so wanting to rebuild the old girl .
My other cruiser is an 1983 FJ 45 I got of a mate its had a 2H transplant and seams to go great i drove it from gippsland to Bendigo over heated a little but only i hope its eithr because the radiator wasn't changed to suit the 2 H or it was over fueling but i have had that problem rectified .
IDEAS !! want to keep my old chassis, rear diff, tray which i made years ago to be a tipper, bullbar ( i know its a dozzer blade but look at it ) , of the 83 i want the 2H and cab because its newer and in great condition and the front diff being that its disk brake .
sittin aside is a 5 speed to go into it also and can abtain a 60 series power steering
Paint is going to be my original Baige

Good luck with the build.

Re: My HJ 45 rebuild project
Thanks Ray
My idea was to detail and photo the build in one place (one one site ) just that that seams easier, i know im going to need some kind of assistance along the way
and was thinking it could or would be of great assistance to any one that has a 45 ,
i'll have a play around and see what i come up with
Thanks again

Re: My HJ 45 rebuild project
Absolutely, good idea. But as this is a tech section (read the rules at the top of the toyota section), I would start a build up thread in the members section with progress reports and pics, then if you have any tech questions or need advice just start a thread in here. Generally you'll get advice on your members page anyway but if you don't, this is the best place for it.Bullbars HJ 45 wrote:Thanks Ray

Keen to see some pics when you figure it out. Does the 83 already have a 5 speed? If so I would keep that chassis, box and transfer and just swap the tray and rear diff over (unless there's something wrong with the later model chassis). 60 power steering is a very worthwhile conversion.
