Engaging low range in Gen3 Vitata?

OK - stupid question time.

Neighbour has a newish (gen 3?) vitara manual - with the dial to select low.

She recently needed to use low range for the first time. It would not engage unless she turned the dial to low, then turned the ignition off then back on. Is this a fault or some sort of lockout???

Oh - and while I am at it, what is the best (value for money) suspension lift for this thing?

you have to have it in neutral with your foot on the brake and then wait till the screen in front of the driver tells you its in low range.
the rocky road lift seems to be the best bang for buck but there is another company boss offroad i think bringing out an decent quality kit soon.

That kit looks reasonable.

Any ideas what suzuki are like with warranty on lifted vehicles?

to engage $WD lock . put transmission in nuetral and foot on brake and clutch in (manual) and then turn dial. Wait for dash to indicate 4wd lock.


as for warrantys i asked this question when we bought ours and they said no problem. but would not warranty the components effected by the lift. eg cvs or suspension bushes.

lifting it voids the warranty on affected suspension parts, as mentioned above
that was the first question i asked the salesman

by all reports they used to say any modification voids the warrenty, but apparently dealers have lost too many court cases, the outcome of which was that the modification had to directly effect the item which was faulty. Like fitting headers wont damage the engine or suspension, but fitting a turbo will damage the engine but not the suspention, body lift or springs will though, etc etc.

This is all hearsay and I have nothing to back it up though!

yes modification and warranty have never sat well with suzuki but i have been fitting Lift kits, snorkels, and sliders to new suzuki's for Norris Suzuki at Nundah and they have a 3 year warranty

i know a Dealer up north who will void your warranty if you fit a snorkel
