TJM Parramatta 4x4 Masters Series round 4, 5th of November

Post by 4x4 Masters »

Happy New Year to all our sponsors, competitors and fans

Our website has been updated with a new look and has the entry details for 2011.

Entry fees have been reduced to $250 and discounts for extra teams (max 3 teams per club)

For 2011 all entries are strictly on-line - no paperwork will be accepted. Team managers (only) need to follow email link to receive a password to access entry forms. Entries and payment are to be received 14 days prior to each round - NO EXCEPTIONS - you miss the deadline the whole team don't play

This year we also have on-site camping for a small fee - this is for competitors only

Or you can stay in luxury at the Chifley hotel next door for very competitive rates.

All rounds are Saturday this year except August which is a Sunday. This allows us to run late into the night should more time be needed for whatever reason. Saturday in August is being reserved for a TBA event :)

BRING ON SERIES 2011, WE'RE EXITED

Cheers

Mark & Wayne

Thanks to Johnny Mac and Mark for giving up their time in 40 degrees to check over the trucks for the first round.

It wasn't real busy when we were there, lets hope that plenty of others made it later.

Round 1 February 19th

CANCELED

It is with much regret that we have to announce that Round 1 has been canceled. Round 1 will now be on the 1st of May.

The decision was not made lightly but due to the amount of teams who have not submitted completed paperwork we are unable to hold the round. This affects the organizing of the event dramatically. It makes it impossible for us to plan for the event in many ways including:

Facilities - we must book in toilets, security and food for the round, we have been under increasing pressure from the Eastern Creek Raceway to provide accurate numbers of teams and officials who will be attending the event.

Scrutineers – Our scrutineers give up their time to come to our event to carry out the scrutineering for us, they come too site prior to the event for Pre-scrutineering to try to take some of the headache out of scrutineering on competition days. Trying to scrutineer over twenty trucks on the morning of the competition morning is a very demanding task. Attending pre scrutineering is important as it allows for us focus on actually running the competition on event days.

Commentary – Our commentary team also need to see completed forms so they can better support you and your sponsors on the day with the right information, they do a top job but it is hard to commentate on what they do not know. The team has asked us repeatedly last year for forms that we just could not provide, thus making the event for them, not as well commentated as they and we would like.

Sponsors – Our sponsors always ask us for competitor numbers and details so they can help with promotion and prizes on the day. Sponsors are an integral part of the event and without them we cannot grow. Without your information we simply cannot provide for them in the manner which is required.

4x4 Masters – Additional to all the above the 4x4 Masters team also rely on prompt and completed entry forms along with payment of entry fees. The details from these forms are what we use to configure our scoring database. It is very hard to add late entries on the day in a rush and leads to mistakes. If we don’t have all the information we find it very hard to organize car door stickers for the day, tickets for competitors, camping facilities and the running list of teams for our track co-ordinator and stage managers to assist with the smooth running of the days competition. The flow on effect caused by insufficient entry forms is endless and impacts us in every aspect of organizing the event and co-ordinating competition on the day.

We thank the many clubs who did take the time to completely fill out entry forms and pay on time. It is unfortunate that you guys miss out due to the rest.

This year’s Series will now begin on Sunday 1st May and will be a four round series.

Early next week entries will open and there will be strictly an April 17th cut off for entries.

We have not posted earlier as we have been calling all clubs who completed paperwork to let them know first. Most clubs have been contacted but one club has had messages left.

If there are any queries on the cancellation or round 1 in May, please give us a call on

Bump.

Mark can you please post up the date that scrutineering for the new rnd 1 date will be?

How strict is the rule on where the exhaust ends? Ours goes through a muffler and finishes about 10 inches before the diff. Wanna know if I need to get it extended or will it be okay?

We have been going flat chat with track changes, course 4 has had new sections added, if you like using the loud pedal  you will like this, making the track longer again. Track 6 is also longer with the start and finish points coming together and the course has been tightened up in places.
We have said goodbye to the travel ramp and in its place is another driving stage, this is a short walk in the park at the top of the hill where you can get up real close to the action.
Course 3 has been changed to have an off camber climb through some large holes that are large enough to be a problem for all.
The concrete course has been widened in places and tightened in others but is still a long course. Competitors will be glad to know that the mushrooms are still there. :finger:
This year we have camping onsite for competing clubs, with permanent toilet and shower blocks and the Cricketeers Arms is just up the road for those wanting a feed and a beer.

Bring on round 1

This was our first appearance at the Masters as a competitor after watching a round last year. All I can say is isn't it great to be on the other side of the fence. I was able to give cheek to the officials ( always with a grin and always in fun ). Have to be part of changing Cv,s, My part was only on the jack though.

I was threatened with bonus points if I was seen running, apparently it did happen, caught running that is. I do remember how it feels waiting in the cold and dark for the scores. The last time for me was at a Nissan Trials about 10 years ago.

We had had a great day and we all felt that we had done well on the stages. Then to be given 2nd place. It was a huge surprise considering the quality of the driving we had seen from the other Teams.

To Steve, Paul, Haggis and Grant our team manager thanks, it was great being with such a good friendly group.

To Shaun, Adam, John john and Andrew, congratulations on your win, you always set the standards.

Finally, To Mark, Wayne and all of the Marshalls and Officials, Thanks again. See you at round 2.

Tony

Congratulations to Shaun and John John from tlcc for taking out round 1, you guys are definately the team to beat again this year. Again we would like to thank all the marshals and officials who helped out all day, top work.
We camped on site for the first time and where lucky enough to have the drifters drifting past camp, it was good to have something different to watch.
The rain held off all day but the tracks where very wet making for some heavy right foot being used by some. The hole at the bottom of track 4 seemed to get deeper as the day went on, with a terrific save from Shaun, bearly keeping the hilux upright.
We only had one role on the day from Paul in the bundy on course 6, caused when Steve was trying to snatch him off a log and over he went.
Again congratulations to all place getters, see you all back in July for round 2

To Shaun, Adam, John john and Andrew, congratulations on your win
Thanks Tony - we had Andrew Doring step up as navi to replace Steve Brennan who has gone into 4wd retirement, so there was a fair bit of uncertaintity as to how we would perform as a team. For his first serious comp he did an outstanding job and he has got an invite back for round 2.

The hole at the bottom of track 4 seemed to get deeper as the day went on, with a terrific save from Shaun, bearly keeping the hilux upright.
Mark, you know how much I hate that hole and how much in truck repairs it cost me last time (inc a new turbo) so I was stoked to feel like I got one back. I have vivid memories of my team mate, Adam, and his animated and deregatory comments :bad-words: about my driving ability last time I got stuck in here, and was too bloody scared to get stuck again. Not sure how much skill was involved but there was a lot of right foot, especially when I realised what a wild side angle I was on due to how soft and deep it was. Mud was being flicked in through the window and I could have reached out and scooped up a handful if I wanted.

Great to see some new teams and new faces and I thought it was a really good relaxed mood amongst the competitors and a good day all round. I cant believe Tony/Steve and Paul/Dane that you guys managed 2nd after a rollover and 2 broken CV's. That meant some bloody good driving to make it up.
Congrats also to the Brindabellas boys on third at their first trip up to The Creek.
If we see a few extra spectators coming along this comp is going to take off. Looking forward to round 2. :D

Cheers all
Shaun
