2.4l toyota diesel into a zook?
Re: 2.4l toyota diesel into a zook?
Having had zooks with zook diffs, MQ diffs, 60 series and back to zook diffs I can speak from a little expirence on this.
Stock Zook diffs, driven very carefully with sensible size tyres can be fine. More pedal, larger tyres and you'll bust stuff at very inconvienient times. With chromo axles you should be able to run 33's in most conditions, even being silly. This is a cheap option that does not require engineering.
MQ diffs, pretty easy conversion in a WT. Nearly bullet proof in a zook.
60 series diffs are basically Hilux diffs can be a good option if YOU have the tech skills to do the install and want to run 35" or larger.

x 2 on what Sierrajim said.
Also with the stickie tyres these days is wont hurt to run chromo's in your 60/hilux diffs.

have you got the weight difference between hilux diffs and sierra/vitara diffs? wouldnt be any more then say 40kg
do you build a custom vitara rear diff to offset the different width to the front sierra diff?
It might be 40kg - I had a pair of hilux diffs here that had been narrowed to WT sierra width and they were pretty heavy. Add in the need for a larger tyre to regain the ground clearance lost through the bigger pumpkins and it adds up. For us, even 25Kg can make a huge difference to capability - even putting a lighter driver in the same car can be the difference between getting up a hill and not, so 40Kg+ a heavier tyre (or less ground ground clearance) can mean a less capable car in our conditions.redzook wrote: have you got the weight difference between hilux diffs and sierra/vitara diffs? wouldnt be any more then say 40kg

I use the vitara diff as they are stronger and much cheaper than a WT sierra diff. The wheelbearing housing is also better suited to welding on the floater adapter.
By flipping the vitara housing upside down and cutting down the short side only, the offset is very close to stock sierra so it's a good result for road driven SWB cars.

What is this floater adapter you speak of?
Re: 2.4l toyota diesel into a zook?
Hi Ben,
It's a laser cut plate that bolts the vitara bearing housing and allows a sierra front spindle and hub to a vitara rear axle housing.
Here's some photos of one mocked up
The plate is fully welded to the housing after its bolted in place - the bolts are for alignment before welding.

Re: 2.4l toyota diesel into a zook?
Is the bearing removable once its welded up?
Re: 2.4l toyota diesel into a zook?
LOL I havent been on Outers for months because pretty much the last time I was here Dave was talking too much SHIT
Joe and Over engineering?? Rear Suzuki Diffs cant be built so you have to use Toyota!
From the above Thread Dave Id say you have been owned!
How many cars have you built ground up that is fully road legal to Vic specs Dave???
You might be better to listen and learn a few more times from blokes like Steve and Joe.
But seems like nothing has changed.

If it's set up the way I think it is, you won't use the original bearing housing, the hubs replace it.V.W.Dave wrote:Is the bearing removable once its welded up?
similar setup to the 60 diffs in your Sierra Dave

I suggest you go back and read the thread again, you've missed something
Nobody has said Suzy diffs can't be built. including Dave. it's about ease of fitment and cost.
WTF does building a car from the ground up to Vic specs have to do with shit ?
Steve and Joe are knowledgeable blokes, but there's more than one way to skin a cat, sheesh
And nope, nothing's changed caus bogans like you still come in here spouting shit and contributing nothing to the actual thread
Cool, no more posts from you for a few monthsRemydog05 wrote:Oh yeah!
