i have a 1993 gq 4.2lt efi petrol gq that wont start after it staled in a water hole, only the front pasenger side got water in ther car, there is no water in the engine i cheked the air box as soon as i got it out ov the water and it was clean, iv replace coil and dizzy cap but ther is no spark, i draind the fuel tank and lines just incase and replaced petrol ther is a water mark an inch high on the computer on the kik board, plzzz help???

Might have drowned the ECU. May only need to be pulled out and cleaned and dried out.

If the ECU got wet, there is a good chance you have let the smoke out!

Pull it out, open the case ( be careful not to touch the internals) and let it dry in the sun for a few hours. Put it back together and install back in the truck. If still no spark, ECU is toast!

Sometimes ECU's can be repaired by specialists like Logicar or similar.

ECU's generally re pretty robust, but there may be dirt across some of the contacts now it is dry and that may be causing electrical issues.

Take out ECU, open it up, spray copious amounts of water displacement spay (WD40 etc) all over the circuit board (and underneath it) and components several times until it is clean, then try reinstalling it. You may need to perform an ECU reset if there is a defined procedure to clear error codes.

I have been known to let the hydraulic fluid out of my ECU wires a few times now. Field effect transistors do in fact have "drains", bipolar transistors have "collectors", and "charge pump circuitry" has a different meaning for me now...
In all honesty all we did two times was a quick wash in the river water and dry out over someones demister on the dash. Had more issues with wet airfilters than the ECU. The other time we had the luxury of WD40 that sped the process up a bit.
