Hey guys!!!!
I have a big problem with my 4runner. we drove along the beach the first time yesterday....it was about 10 minutes....and i saw the needle in the red range. We must stop and i saw only white smoke....mmhhh i thought....cause a friend of mine has the same car and he hasnt got this problem...we compare our cars and i determine that i have a different cooling system. The cooling system from my friend: the fan is directly mounted on the pulley where the water pump is.....at my cooling system....my fan is mounted at the radiator...and works only when the temperature gets higher(with a sensor)....
so i went to supercheap and told them my problem...they ask me whats the car.....they recommend me another fan....almost the same as in my car...so im a little bit confused....i see the fan, in the book and at my friend, mounted on the pulley from the waterpump...but otherwise the guy from supercheap told me...i need the fan which i must mount on the radiator...
Could somebody help me.....whats teh right fan....where can i get it and how much is it??????????

you have bigger problems than fan issues at the moment, white smoke means burning water.
You have cracked a head or blown a head gasket as well.
You have a thermo fan set up.
Just use a thermo switch and set it to 40 degrees and get the biggest fan that can fit.
Why did the guy before you run a thermo?
Does it have a bodylift??

hey thx for your answer...
with white smoke i mean from the water tank....not from the exhaust.........i dont know really why he have mount a thermokit....the radiator is from a wrecker...there is written down(toyota 94) on the radiator....
he had lift the car about 3 inch....i hope this is what you mean.....is this important????
but back to the fan kit....40 degrees is very low...are the fans created for this...i mean they will work all the time....
and what is when i omit the the thermo sensor?????

i found the part what im looking for...the fan from from my friend is mounted with a fan clutch....is this what i need?????

So...i have been at a toyota service today....and they said that they have no fan clutch for my 4Runner....cause it is an import........so im very confused.....im not really sure what i have as well.....do i have a 4Runner or an Hilux Surf....On some receipt there is written down 4Runner and on some Hilux Surf....next to the doors from my car there are signs with "surf" and on the back of my car is written down "turbo SSR limited"....Can you tell what it is???....and when not...how can i figure it out?????
The man from Toyota told me that the electric fan is a better solution as the mechanic fan(fan clutch) is that right???? And whats about when i remove the sensor ...so that the fan works all the time....is it good for the fan??????

Hello....i ve turned the fan of 40 degrees....and it works much better...thx a lot....but i think the problem is the turbo...could it be the turbo????? the engine is: 2L-T.....the friend of mine had the same problem of overheating. have anybody the same problem with this engine? Whats about if i build in a bigger radiator???? Do I need another water pump as well????
and just one more questions. I have 2 LEDs in my display for the turbo. A red one and a orange(red) one. At first, at 2000rpm, only the green one is lighting up. And at 2700-2800 rpm only the orange one is lighting up. What do the two LEDs mean. The green one means that the turbo works. And the orange one?????

Mike, you have a surf. You need to go to http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and sign up and ask the questions there. They will give you the best advice.
Your engine originally had a clutch fan (mounted to water pump). This is the best fan you can have on your engine. Perhaps the original clutch fan failed and the previous owner replaced it with a thermo fan. You should refit the clutch fan. The forum above can show you how. You also need to make sure your cylinder head gasket is ok. Ask there about this also.
