Rebuild Kits 1HDT

Post by Kramer »

Anyone got any good contacts for diesel rebuild kits? Finally did some work on my cruiser (Motor died 80kms from Rocky on the way home from Cape York) and I have a small hole in piston number 5. I will do a full rebuild while I am fixing it. I need prices, been on ebay and had a quick look a couple of guys are doing rebuilds and long motors also. There is one guy with a kit for $1400 I have emailed him about what brands he is using but I doubt I will buy it, it just seems too cheap. I am chasing 1HDT parts if anyone needs any details.

I have toyed with the idea of grabbing a V8 supercharged diesel that is from an 80 series. The only details from the ad are 6.2L Supercharged Chev Diesel LPG Injection, with an airlocker and 35's as is $12k that is for the whole car. I could grab the V8 and box and throw mine in the 80 series and either wreck the 80 or sell it whole. I was hoping to get $5k for the 80 with the old motor (not going) I am unsure about the condition of the 80 as yet though.

Any thoughts everyone?

Oh here is the link for the ebay rebuild kit http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-LANDCRUIS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 255f7cea28
He doesn't even supply head bolts which are sacrificial on the 1HD-T's.

Hey mate, I got a rebuild kit for mine with everything in it from a place where I live. I got it at trade price which is quite a bit less than what the average joe would get it for. Ended up being from memory around $750-800. Doesn't really help you that much but give you an idea what they are really worth! :D

I bought one through Repco, it was an ACL kit. Their price was competetive and I thought I would have no issue if I had to take parts back.

the kit was made up of parts of all different brands, made in Taiwan, Japan, Thailand etc etc

it didnt include a Head Gasket, you need to assemble the short motor and measure and calculate wich HG you need.

also didnt include timing belt and tensioner.

If I was going to go again, I would get the block machined and fit oversize pistons and bearings to measure. also get the head recoed.

Parts only cost me around $2000-2500. reco exchange long motor are available for aourn $4500, a while ago there was new long motors selling on ebay for $7G's

Thanks guys, everyone was right the kits aren't that expensive and all I needed was pistons and bottom end bearings as I already had the head gasket kit

Worst part is I now need a new head as mine has a small crack :bad-words:
