Multi-V conversion on Samurai G13a

Post by HedgeBoar »

Hey,
I'm going to need to put a multi-V belt on my samurai -- The stock V belt only lasts a few hours with the falcon alternator + winching.... I've searched around and am struggling to find a clear answer as to what pulleys to use.

Do I need a crank pulley from a swift or a vitara? And does the age matter?

What water pump do I need? I've read I need a G16a pump -- is this the same as the G13a pump except for the pulley?

I think you need to check the alignment of the alternator pulley first, if you fix that it will save you a lot of stuffing around.
Lots of vehicles run high output alternators and std vee belts.

I've set up the alignment pretty well -- It's within 1mm. It gets a pretty hard time since it's wet/muddy so much of the time too. I'm pretty sure I could fix it by using a slightly larger V-pulley on the alternator (the current one is quite small) but I'll be putting power steering and a supercharger on in the near future, so the accessory belt needs to run the alt, WP, and PS pump since the supercharger will require one of it's own.

I have all the bits & peices I'll need to switch to multi-V (tensioners, alt pulleys etc.) just need to know if there are crank and water pump pulleys that can be swapped without modification before I go and spend time making some up.....

Are coilys common over there? They came out with mulitiv stock. Also later models over here in Aus(94' leafy's ) had multivee also. Would be good for a complete swap.
