Good luck Ben. You've got a much greater chance with a car you know how to drive, and having the time to go over it with a fine tooth comb. I can't believe how late some of the guys are leaving it to get cars finished, the Torchmate buggy for example springs to mind.

yeah, it's amazing how late people leave it. But then again Loren's car had hardly been finished an he won last year. The Torchmate TTB will be interesting to see how it goes, and JT is an awesome driver.

So who will be out there?

Napsta
Matt + 3
Nick

Ruff
Mrs Ruff
Surfection
Ferog

Bazooked
+ other Perth people?

OzBogan Ben

Zac? Check out this link for somewhere to stay: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=948835

Who else?

Keep an eye out for a Chevy Tahoe driving down the wrong side of the freeway. We are staying in LA on the Sunday night and heading towards the hammers Monday morning.

If you see a 300C behind you flashing it's lights, that'll be me. On the wrong side of the road trying to overtake you.

If you need a ride out to the trails from the lakebed let us know. We should have plenty of room. There is only 4 of us in the Tahoe. They say it can seat 9.

Well we got both the cars buttoned up and ready to test yesterday:

Headed out to the Hammers and the transmission was acting up. We made some adjustments to the shift sensor, and then lost 2nd gear and then lost 3rd gear.
Bugger!

Well with Matt Dunk's help, the transmission was out this morning and is off to the specialist to get looked at. I really hope they find something that shows why it failed, because that transmission was fully rebuilt a month ago.

I have to put a couple of serious days in at the office, then will be back up at the shop later in the week to pitch in on the final prep.

Here are some other new bits that turned up for our prep:

Just spoke to Ben. His Auto is all repaired and going back in the car tonight. Hopefully it has no more issues.

He said it is freezing cold on the lakebed so take warm clothes.

Sweet!!

I am heading to Vegas this weekend and then driving out to KOH on Wednesday.
Got a 4 door wrangler and I am hoping I can find a camping store to buy a matress and sleeping bag so I can sleep in the back of it :D

Stay until after the race and then head back to Vegas for the weekend, before hitting San Fran on the 14th for a week.

Get it!!

Not sure how cold it was today but I was out there wearing a hoodie and a pair of shorts. The other 3 that were with me were in jeans and complaining about how cold it was though.

Didnt see any LCQ action as we got in late but Randy Slawson's bomber 2 is my pick for winning the LCQ. Its less than 15 seconds from the base of Backdoor to the top. That car is totaly dialed.

My time zone conversions could be out but I think coverage starts at 2am, first cars leave the line at 3am QLD time.

Congrats on 10th place Napsta....also congrats to Campbell racing and winning KOH 2011 in an IFS equipped Buggy.

Hopefully IFS vehicles will get abit more respect now...thou I doubt it :finger:

I know, Shannons buggy is well set up....but could to see someone persevering with a setup against the majority.

Bring on 2012...hopefully I can make it there.

In the interview he had just after crossing the line, he mentioned having alt. problems then needing a jump start from another competitor to get going again.

A pretty amazing gallery of hi-res pics has been added to Pirate. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=956360

If you haven't seen it you should, but be aware that the 300+ pics will eat data

I'll get a race report up soon, but what a huge race.
We lost an alternator which screwed us, but we fought back to 10th. I believe we were extremely quick, but thats racing...

Agree, Ben seemed to have the pace but an unfortunate mishap that slowed proceedings. Win 2012 & my ticket as soon as the dates are set. Got a few people to visit while there.
