Hey guys, got hold of a factory locker out of a nj for my nh.

I dont have the factory wiring and pump and dont really want it, would like to go aftermarket style.

My idea so far is to run one of those plastic $20 12v tyre pump compressors, and use a front diff air tank to hold some pressure to it.

I cant seem to find a pressure switch that works at 6psi (correct pressure?), does anyone know where i might find one?

Also, any input/advice, or how you did yours would be great, Wiring is no problem at all, its the components i an mostly concerned about.

hmmm, found a fair few people talking about this, so no one has done it?

The diff has arrived now, so will sort it out soon enough.

Get a factory pump or a suitable pressure valve.

Get an LED switch (one that glows when the switch is 'on')

Get fused power to the switch, and switchable power to the pump, then instead of hooking up the earth on the switch for the wee LED, run that wire through the factory diff (two wires coming out of it, earth one end and put the other end to the earth on the switch) so when the diff is physically locked the light glows rather than just when the compressor is on.

Hard wired my factory locker today, but ran out of light to finish the led off the diff switch.
Does the two wires from the diff come from the locker compressor area or head elsewhere?

as previously stated, you need to pick up an active from a different circuit that the pump is on, because the switch circuit being completed is the only sure way of knowing if the locker is engaged or not. Just because the compressor is on doesnt mean the diff is locked. I picked up an active from

the wiring harness just near where the compressor goes, i think it was a blue/white wire.

Thanks for the info NJV6, have looked at the wiring diagrams and what you said all makes sense.

Finally found some pressure switches too, still waiting for them from usa though.

Car is really close to rego now, looks like we will be at landcruiser park on labour day to put it through some tracks if all goes to plan.

Just to confirm, working pressure for locker? I have read 6psi, and also 8 psi.

Could be both i know. 6 psi pump on, 8 psi pump off......

Dont want to blow my seals out though!

All good, factory light on dash is working well.

Flashes till positively locked then stays on solid till turned off :D

Thats good :)

Somewhere between 6 to 8 psi will be fine.
