Re: Safari turbo kits and td42. Any good?
I've got the safari kit, very happy with the quality and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into every aspect of the design and all parts are top quality. eg. it comes with a 3" dump and full 3" mandrel bent exhaust with a decent flex coupling and retains all factory hanging points. The turboglide exhaust has a horrible dump pipe, doesn't even have a flex coupling and isn't mandrel bent...
the safari intake system doesn't fit with an ARB dual battery tray though so I had to change to a GU airbox

G'day mate.
I run a safari turbo kit, front mount cooler & water cooled turbo. Runs around 14pound and comfortably puts out
172hp / 286ft pnd 4.6gears & 35s mtz's , the only thing i would suggest is spend money on your fuel pump if anything, i still run
std Gq pump with small upgrade & a boost compensater, future plans are GU pump & 12mm plunger but i gotta say very
happy with the safari kit provided runs all rubber hoses (no or very little heat soak witch we all no diesel's dont like heat.)
& a Nice easy to fit front mount.
the only problem i come across was it started to run a bit hot under load i.e front mount cooler and high mount/air flow & cavitating water were to blaim. after many questions on forums and doing my head in. i done dome research on big diesel's
CATS/ Kenworth trucks
and found a guy by the name of JONH BENNET that modifies the Td42 water pump for anticavertating
And believe me, i tried every thing known possible befor i spent $580 bucks on a water pump, but when i did wat a difference it made.( if you reqiure more info i can supply number and address in denilliquin nsw.)
but in hole mate safari turbo kits get a bad rap in the big power turbo siene but every one i know that fit a roller bearing
or big garret and isnt running a comp truck/ is other wise unhappy with the driveabilty or has busted it because of soot biuld up in the oil and running through the rollers. ( something big turbo mobs dont tell ya. )
hope this helps bud good luck.

Re: Safari turbo kits and td42. Any good?
I am another very happy Safari turbo kit customer. I have a GQ TD42, I have managed to fit the ARB dual battery tray in as well.
