80 series bump stops

Hi all,

i just had a mate buy a nice looking 80, now he's putting a spring lift in, he rings me and ask me how to remove the REAR bump stops, because he can't get the springs in, i thought the all just bolted in? ive never worke on an 80 and i live 5hrs away, could someone answer this for him?

is he lifting the car up enough?
Has he removed the rear swaybar?

You dont need to remove the bump stop

he shouldnt need to touch bump stops to change the springs. I have swapped springs in my 80 a few times, just jack up the diff, remove tyres, put stands under the chassis, lower the diff, jack up body as high as you need to to unload the springs and let the diff droop right down

yea thats what i thought, i didn't think it could be any diff to a patrol,, cheers guys

just had a chat to him, he said he even tried to put a bottle jack between diff and chassis but still not getting enough room???

oh and i found out its a 3in lift, he'll be on soon anyways

yeah you dont need to remove bump stops.
but yeah they bolt in.

i put 4 inch lift springs in by driving up and down a stump and removing sway bar prior.

last set were 2 inch and we did them on a hoist. has he undone his shocks?

The only things holding it up should be the shocks, swaybar and brake line.
