Half doors

Post by uglystik01 »

okay so im in the process of building a comp truck based on a lux. im keen on building half doors or tube doors though the later is just a little to obvious for the men in blue. now ive only seen pics of finished halfdoors and can't find any detailed info on how they are actually built.
now ive got the skills to do this (i think) all i need is some info
when the doors are cut do any of you weld a intrusion bar in or any extra reinforcement or do you simply skin the door
thanks for any input
explorer rear springs, high steer, rear springs up front, 2 inch body lift, all home made soon to be injected v8 and gq diffs

As long as you maintain the door lick mechanism ie anti burst catch thing and retain any factory side mirrors and the intrusion bars if standard then you should have problems. I used to run half doors and no doors on my Sierra and never ran foul of the law with them, even had my car passed over the pits by VICROADS with the half doors on.
