"supposed to be?" So you know this first hand then?
Airflow are good and aussie made from high quality raw materials. It's the knobs who dont fit them properly that causes problems with them.

Fitted Safari snorkel: $600

Fitted Chinese Snorkel: $400

Save $200.

Rebuilding a 1KZ-TE due to water ingress? $8000.

i'd want to be VERY sure of a snorkel before i trusted it.

After all, one of the hardest things ever achieved by mankind was making a hollow tube for air to flow through...

Its more "Making a hollow tube thats WATERPROOF for air to flow through"- Worst case scenario, your halfway up your windscreen in water going across a river or something- Fair bit of water pressure on seals, joints etc at that stage. R&D and the material quality used could be the difference between a successful crossing and a drowned car

Hate to hijack the thread but didn't think this justified starting a brand new topic for.

Anyone out there (Melb pref) with a template to fit a Safari Snorkel part # SS75HF? Picked mine up second hand (looks brand new) but no template. Google came up with sweet FA and the Safari website is the same.
Need tyres, wheels, alignments, balancing, fitting or puncture repairs in Melbourne? PM me!

Shaloe did you end up fitting a TRV snorkel to your hilux? Or hear any feedback on their quality? Cheers

look up http://www.scintex.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; A good mate of mine sells snorkels for under $300 for 90% of cars. I have seen them and cannot fault them.

http://www.scintex.com.au/4WD-Snorkel-K ... -products/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They now have a shop front in capalaba too so you can see them first hand!

As for negative shit about chinese stuff - half of what you buy is chinese from tv's to computers, tools etc,

Lightforce are made in china!
bad quality comes from any country, and there is plenty of good shit from china

Agreed, Airflow is rubbish. Worst thing I ever put on my old Lux. When you put one next to a safari or Airtec, you can clearly see the difference in quality. Not to mention the fit was crap, and I have worked as a vehicle fitter for long enough to know whats what.
