series 3 / 31" tyres
series 3 / 31" tyres
Are the 6.1 transfer gears to low for 31" tyres on the highway in high range, how do they perform at 90-100 kph ( in a 1.3 sierra). Also does low range limit the off road use to rock crawling only , I figure 20 kph will be reving its head off in 5th and hi 1st may be a little high in mud and sand ?? Any body using these gears for general on & off road use with 31s????????????
I dont thing they are too low for use with 31's - but you will definately be throwing some more rev's though the car to get to the speed you are after.
As for the use offroad - you are correct - there will be situations where the gearing will be too low for what you want, and you will have to switch between high and low range more than before, but at the same time - this is a better scenerio then having to drive up obsticles slipping the clutch isn't it?
Plus, an S3 will set you up to be able to use bigger tyres in the future without having to upgrade your gearing again... An S1 will only do this to a lesser extent.
