Guys, ive been told you can put a 3 ltr lid on a 4.2TD, and it gives you a few more ponies, any body done this if so, was it worth it? :roll:

definitely if you are finding the 4.2 lid is a restriction it wasnt a straight swap for me as the pipe is a slightly different angle and size and i had to trim a plastic bit off the box to fit but still well worth it for me

I have a billet alloy lid on mine made by Jimmybill on the pootrol forum.... on bench tests it substantially outflowed the 3.0 lid.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it gives a big increase in hp, but it does improve throttle srsponse, and the engine happily revs beyond 3000rpm whereas previously it felt like it was being strangled and/or starved of air.

Throttle response and rolling accelleration around 90-100kmh is a lot better.

they can also make them with a 4" inlet at a little extra cost

Thanks guys, have PMed Jimmybill, and have ordered one of his high flow lids - Think i will stick with the standard box and filter ect for the moment. :D Cheers.
