60L of dead fuel - where to dispose of it...?

My local tip isn't interested, this fuels been sitting around for a few years, not used on a boat trip somewhere, but now I need the drums...

Where do I get rid of it? I don't need to light Australia on fire, weeds are pretty much under control, so where else do I take it?

Or hang onto it until winter, and have an Outers Bonfire.

Put some octain boost in it and use it in your lawn mower. Or if you have a old carby car like a 94 barina add a little new fuel to it and it will still run. Call your local lawn mower guy and ask if he wants it.

60 Litres? You can't be serious? It's a backyard, not a toxic waste dump!

I get rid of "old" fuel by running it through my mower, which seems less fussy than my cars, but 60L would take a while.

Maybe blend a couple of litres per tank into your car? Dodgy, I know, but it would be fine. It'd take a while to get rid of 60L.

Any flammables/hydrocarbon is very expensive to get rid of commercially.

Did you try your council rather than the tip?

I don't have a yard or corner big enough to get rid of 60ml of fuel far less 60litres, so 'dumping' is out...

I guess I'll see what the council have to say, although it was a local council run tip that I tried to get rid of it at..

And if you're worried abt water in it... toss in a metho cap full of methylated spirits to mix with the water... done...

Do you know anyone with diesel fired home heating? That can take petrol at a decent mix and the tanks are big enough that it'll probably take it in one hit.

Failing that, find someone with a pump/generator/tractor/landrover or other low compression petrol motor. Mix it in and it'll still run fine.

Of you are in a rural district the councils usually run a drum muster and old chemical cleanup on an annual basis. In this area is around mid year I think. Transfer to 20lt drums for this.
Maybe some you know in in rural district other suggestion.
The idear of mixing with fresh petrol is ok maybe 20% old to new premium fuel should be ok, will take a bit of time I agree.
The use in parts washer is also ok, try backyard cash type worker for this.

Two bottles of octane boost into it and run it in your car. No drama.

How old is it? It doesnt' generally go off unless it is 2 stroke. Ive had fuel sitting in my boat for a couple of yrs unused, (4 stroke) just added a bottle of octane boost and it ran fine.

Sell it cheap to your neighbors for mower fuel in 10l lots. Helps the locals and you get beer tokens...

I left 20l out in th sun in an open bucket with a tarp covering it and it evaporated in 3 weeks.

You could try that.

Tried someone like Nationwide Oil? They recycle oil, they'd probably know.

Invite everyone you know with a lawn mower to come and fill their fuel container!

Then use what's left, 5-10 litres or so at a time, every time you (nearly) fill your car with nice new petrol.

98 octane goes off quite quickly.
