TD42 Fuel Pump issue

Post by brendo4b »

I have a td42 that i have rebuilt i had everything done cam refaced balanced new semi finished liners etc i also had pump and injectors new alternator starter power steering pump there isnt anything i havent replace. My issue is i have a slight ticking/clicking noise that speeds up and slows down with engine speed.i even removed the head and rechecked piston heights i also had the pump and injectors run up again to check for any overfuelling bot all good.i recentky spoke to a guy and he sugested maybe a problem with the cam plate in the fuel pump is this possible as i said car runs fine no miss fires or anything is it possible for this cam plate to make a ticking noise.i have re adjusted tappets and they are fine.if there is anyone out there that has a working fuel pump laying around i would happily give you a carton to let me fit it for a day just to see if it fixes my problem any info would be appreciated as i am preparing a trip around oz in may and am a bit worried i might have dramas if anyone has a pump and is keen to lend it to me my number is 0433664091 or pm me on here
cheers

If you suspect it's a pump or engine problem then wouldn't it be wise to take your truck back to whoever did the pump and get their opinion? Also have you run your truck without any of the drive belts to eliminate other possible causes.
