Triton dash facia removal

MK 99 Triton.
I need to get to the air flow controls.
The fan control has only 2 speeds now. None or flat out.
And the direction selector has developed a new bump stop when turning the dial left.

So...How do i take the fascia off to get to the panel?
Im talking about the shiney black bit that goes around the instrument cluster and the centre vents and the control panel.

There are 2 screws at the top of the instrument panel .Are these a start?

Just went and check on mine, it is the 2 screws above the instruments and the rest is held in by clips. You just have to gently but firmly pull the facia out after undoing the 2 screws

You say that you have 2 speeds - none or falt out. Assuming that it is the internal fan speeds you are talking about, it sounds as if you have cooked a resistor in the fan speed controls. The resistors are not inside the dashboard. They will be underneath the fan itself - typically on the left side of the car. You unbolt a small assembly from the fan casing and it comes out. It has several resistor wires and as you switch to a faster speed, it bridges out more resistors, giving more voltage to the fan motor. You will find that the first resistor wire is stuffed. You get nothing from speeds 1, 2, 3 etc until you get to flat out because the first resistor wire is cooked open circuit. You get flat out because when you select that, there is no resistor in the circuit.

You can do a dodgy repair by putting in a new piece of resistance wire, or you could get a replacement assembly from a wrecker or from a new supplier.

My original thought was the resistors.
But all speeds have decided to work.
Intermittent stuff. Hate it.

The main problem was the directional flow.
A bit of a fiddle, a few choice words and some Inox and its fixed for the time being.

When I get more time I will pull the lot apart. There is a new sound system to go in and I have to find a better place to mount the UHF than screwed to the ashtray.

Might look for an overhead console.
