Hilux and 4runner brake info

Post by justinshere »

Hey

Ive been trying to find info on braking systems from a 4runner 3.0L V6 wagon - 1995+ i think is the year model.
Need to find out if they are the same braking systems as a 90s model LN106's
Trying to get the lux engineered on 32's but can only go 50mm bigger than a standard tyre. The above 4runners came out standard with approx a 30" tyre.
So if these 4runners have the same setup as my lux its do-able.
Anyone got part numbers on master cylinders and/or front calipers at least.

Thanks Justin

I think the front calipers have bigger pistons and the rear drums are bigger. How ever all these will for a 106

If your front rotors are vented, I think thats the best you can fit(from another car anyway), unless you go aftermarket.
If your front rotors are solid, then fit the vented ones, its a fantastic upgrade to do.

But I have read somewhere that the IFS rotors will only fit with some sort of spacers, as they are narrower than solid axles rotors.

It's the hubs that are different as far as I know not the rotors. .

Sorry, I meant to say hubs ;)

But the vented rotors from a solid axle lux will go straight on, and use the same wheel bearings too. Well they did on my upgrade.

Your 95 4Runner will have the larger 4 pot calipers with 45mm pistons, same as used on the early 80 series cruisers with drum rear brakes.
Std IFS 4Runner rotor is the thicker vented one, DBA 775 with 291mm diameter and 25mm thick when new..
Master cyl. will be 1" bore, again same as early 80 series.

Alright thanks for all the info.
My lux has the 4 pot calipers, not sure if they are 45mm ones. I also currently have vented rotors.
I know I've got the std 7/8" master cyl.
Looks like ill be running 31s

Thanks for the help.

Std lux caliper is 4 pot, but 2 large & 2 small per caliper so less clamping pressure.

My lux has the 4 pot, 2 per side. They are all the same size.
Thats the way this lux is, my one before this was like this. its a standard size.
