Tuning for power and economy petrol Jeeps

Post by 4wheelinls1 »

I am considering buying the software for the Jeep, it only covers the petrol variants in the 4.0L and the current V6. They are not the cheapest things to tune as it requires a Flash box from Diablo at about $850 dollars plus tuning, estimate another $600. I believe their will be good gains as they are tuned for 87 octane in the US and if they were tuned for 98 or even 95 here they should pick up noticable power and economy. In order to justify the cost of the software, $2500 or so I'd like a feel for how many people would spend $1450 on tuning thier Jeep.

Thanks

Joel

the 3.8L in the JK is a dunger of an engine.

tuning it will achieve nothing but to get it to self destruct sooner.

doubt anyone with the old 4.0L would care either. they're too old and not worth enough to justify spending money on anymore.

Joel I have a mate with a newly installed 4.7 stroker 6 that wont run properly if you are looking for a ginea pig....... he lives about 1km from you too.

But as Yom said, the older ones arent worth tuning, and JK owners are too busy with warranty issues to worry about fuel economy and performance LOL
My friends aren't holding me back..... I'm pulling 'em forward.

US octane rating is not based on RON and as such does not compare directly

87 AKI (US) is close enough to 91 RON aka standard ULP

Hmmm the words Jeep and power and Economy all on the same page? wow , yes the 3.7 is shite throw it away the 4.0 is easy without the software just buy a chip and the v8 well the HOs dont need much tbh and the powertech just fit HO parts and again chips are available as are blowers etc
