snake racing radius arms
has anyone had any luck with flex running these snake racing radius arms with no drop boxes,6inch lift, gu wagon,great flex on the ass about as much flex as a hilux on the front, its very sad. i know 5link front end is the way to go but not really keen to do this,

You wont get any more flex with a snake arm as any other brand drop radius arm , because the 3 link design is what binds up through the bushes.

There is heaps of information on here for all those types of setups but unfortunately a standard Drop radius arm like the ones you have are not going to help you anymore than factory items except by slightly relieving the stress in the rear pin during full articulation , but that is so irrelivant in the whole front end setup if you are chasing extra flex.

All the designs mentioned except standard Drop Radius arms have a lot less stress going into the bushes.
For maximum articulation the SUPERFLEX arms are not the best choice, they are a comprimise between handling and flex, used extensively on street driven vehicles and high speed Winch challenge/ Outback style trucks.
X-Links , 5 Links and Triangulated links will give you the most flex if that is what you want but that is almost always at a price of bad handling.
Here is a link to explain SUPERFLEX Arms better than i can here without spending hours explaining them, but basicly the bushes are closer together allowing less binding between the bushes and the diff, thus allowing more flex.

I Think you would be stuffed if you got caught with the superflex arms aswell. They arn't engineered either. We have heard heaps of reports from customers that they are getting super flex arms approved for the street as long as the sway bars are fitted.

what kind of bushes are in the snake arms? this will effect flex as well gu slotted bushes at $75 each are the best, then solids then the poly ones are worst. - but nothing fixes the problem. its a trade off superflex trades off a bit of handling for a fair bit of flex, x link etc trade off alot for alot.blowngq wrote:I Think you would be stuffed if you got caught with the superflex arms aswell. Genuine is rated as the best.
We still use genuine as well as our own rubber bushes that to date have not had a failure since there introduction approx 12 months ago.
The difference between a good bush and a crap bush is the pecentage of polymers that the rubber gets cut with.
Polymers are a lot cheaper than rubber, this is why cheap bushes fail quick.
We have tried Partco( manufactured in china) but we were seeing warranties within an extremely short time. ( so short i am talking weeks) so we took those of our product range.
Slotted GU bushes do flex better than solid GU and GQ but the life of the bush is shorter as they will eventually tear between the slots quicker than a solid bush will.

Not superflex arms, but one of the bushes in my Superior rear lower control arms tore and when I pressed it out I noticed it was a Caloffroad bush. I used a Roadsafe brand rubber bush to replace it (prob same as Partco) which was about 5 times cheaper then a genuine one so I'll see how it goes.
Genuine definitely is best though, have pulled bushes out of Patrols with 300k on the clock and they are still servicable is some cases. Pity Nissan are such a rip off when it comes to parts.

You should have just contacted us and you would have got it under warranty.
What we have found is once a lift over 2 inches is in a patrol it starts shortening the life of the bush pretty quickly.
6 inch lifts kill the genuine bushes really fast escpecially if the truck is used to 4wd extreme tracks not just state forest trails or the road.
As you stated the genuine bushes can go for 300,000KLm plus but usually most of that is in standard height suspension and on road mainly.

has any body done a 4 link on a gq or triangular 3 link? i'v been thinking of a 5 link but still not sure i ran x link for about 2 months and didnt like it at all. it had too much roll and the can was not stable on angles that is why i am not sure on the 5 link.
