custom leaf packs for my 75 seires

Post by tuf75series »

G,day everyone. So im looking to make some new custom leaf packs up for my 75 series,
my question is do i use just longer leafs only or do use some short and long ones??

From what i know that the mains and first second and third leaf supports the weight of a unloaded car and the rest act as load carrier leafs i think?? :?
Thats where i become confused so do i just use longer leafs only as i dont tow any weight and forget the short ones?

I all so plan on making the rear mains 50mm longer and the fronts i have 60 series mains.
sorry if im being a pain but i stuck!

dont use 60 series in the front they wont fit . 75s are allready 50 mm longer than the 60 front, maybe put 60 rears up front ? could posibly do some custom 78-9 rears for the rear if you dont mind moving the mounts .

U might not even have to remove the 75 rear hangers, could have two sets if ever you had to refit the 75 rears back in you could,.
What are you Hoping to gain from new leafs ,
if you take to many out you could start to get Axel wrap

You need to go do a lit of reading and understand how they work. Leaves look simple but are actually very complicated with their lengths angles friction and so on. You need to make sure the packs progressively get shorter So you will always have a range of ling and short ones because of the leverage factor the spring needs to be at it's strongest at the axle. Weakest at the ends. Number of leaves depends on what it will be used for. Length of spring and shackle length and angle. So it is something you need to factor into your design

Hey yeah im using 60 rear's as they are 3 inch longer for the front im doing a shackle rotation and movin rear hanger 2 inch back and the rear i have no idea atm i do have a set of 79 rears they a 180mm longer i think? i may just move rear hanger back.
My aim is to get good flex as its just a weekend warrior not loads being towed just some capping gear exc.

ok. so what i have now is correct my leafs becomes shorter from the mains.
