Hi guys,
I'm putting a 5L-E turbo into my ln106 and think the easiest way will be to transplant the whole LN167 dash into mine.
I have to strip the whole dash out anyway to get the full wiring harness and have already done this. Just wondering if anyone has looke dinto doing this and whether the steel support bar that your dash bolts up to will bolt into my LN106. They look very similar but I havent pulled the dash out of the ln106 yet, Also where abouts and what does the ecu look like.
Thanks, Shane

Re: LN167 dash in a LN106 and ecu
Nope that steel support bar won't fit.
I have a ln106 and have transplanted a ln167r motor box and loom.
Just found things to mount off and made it fit, there is a small gap because of the shape difference but other then that it fits pretty good.
Need that dash as the 106 one wiring is completely different.
Have fun, the wiring is a nightmare... Lol
Ecu is on passenger side behind globe box

I'll copy the pm I sent u before so if some one asks this question again I don't have to retype it...
Just about the basic mods to fit it
Just incase someone else was thinking of it..

Re: LN167 dash in a LN106 and ecu
I just used the Haines repair books for both models, but they have limited diagrams for the conversion, so alot you just have to work through.
I had to lengthen the main harness on the drivers and passenger side where it goes through the fire wall and some of the wiring you need to cut to get in place any way.
Need to pull the whole harness out and label it as it is getting removed so you can work out where it's runs in the cab of your lux.
Make sure you use the hazard light switch from the 5le, even though the symbol is around 90 degrees the two switches have different wiring configeration.
Your current motor has cable accelerator, the whole assembly needs to be removed and the electronic 5le one needs to be bolted it. I lined it up with one existing hole but the remaining mounts I just used bolts through the fire wall.
The air conditioning wiring sensors behind the dash are alot smaller, I removed my 2.8 ones and siliconed the 5 le ones in. I ran the 2.8 ac pump and hoses other wise the hoses won't match up with your filter and condensor. And on the new harness it has the ac high pressure sensor in tge alloy line between the fire wall and filter, I had to go to the ac shop and get a line custom made.
You will have to hole saw on both the drivers side and passenger side to run the harness, if you need pics I can get some but just take photos of both before you start pulling it apart so you can see how it is supposed to run.
There isn't much room to mount the computer, I put it above the passenger floor under the glove box, I made a frame out of flat bar so it can be bolted in.
I just screwed the 5le dash in with big screws, looks pretty good but a pain to get in.
Do me a favor but, I was pretty rushed when doing the conversion so I didn't bother looking too much at the gearbox differences and back casing where the transfer bolts on.
Basically I ran the complete 5le motor and drive line but the 5le has a G52 with a chain drive transfer.
The problem is the g52 belhousings are different, I wanted to know if either the belhousings can be swapped over to run the original box or the back casing of the gearbox be changed to run tge gear drive transfer.
There is no adaptor plates for this model box/transfer, and can't get crawler gears for the chain drive from the 5le
It would be nice and easy when you have both side by side to compare, but I don't have that luxury now, so if you wouldn't mind having a look.
Cheers brad
