hilux with drop shackles

Post by duffy69 »

hi i have a 94 single cab hilux that has 2" body lift 2" lifted parabolic springs and climax drop shackles. running 33"s. the problem i have is when i lift a back wheel with a forklift the shackles will not open seems to be like it is trying to twist at the chassis rather than the springs. when i lift both rear wheels up at the same time they open up perfectly?? wondering if anyone can help me with this issue. thanks in advance..

The springs are too stiff and short. and you need to put ya shocks in an A " /\ " format.

Or your shackle bolts are too tight.

Springs will be too short and stiff. And being parabolic. Not twisting like a regular pack which is crucial for drop shackles. You need to either fit longer softer regular leaves. Or ditch the drop shackles and move your shackle mount forward and fit a longer shackle with more angle. A correctly set fixed shackle of the same length as the open drop shackle will provide better and more controlled flex

Ya better of going with Superior Engineering drop shackles as they have the twist point built in them. Climax ones just open and close. I've ran drop shackles front and rear and had no problem with them. I know heaps of people still run them in competitions and have no drama with them.
