Help, wanting to fuel inject my tb42

Post by evil_knevel69 »

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction to buy a kit, new or 2nd hand to fuel inject my Tb42. And any relevant information such as pros and cons would be fantastic. Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

I will search for it later. But Bru fitted the throttle body and injectors from an EL falcon. He also modified the dizy so it was electronic. Think he grafted the ford item on top. Not sure what he did for computer.

Another way to go. Which is common on Rovers is to fit a mega squirt system. Last time I looked there wasnt an actually kit you could buy and it would all work. But I read it wasnt that hard to put together. And then you could just use a laptop to tune it.

Easiest way to get the injectors mounted is to just get an intake manifold of an EFI TB42. I think ???? the injectors where mounted in the manifold. Would pay to check though as I havent looked at one in years.

IT would probably take the same amount of effort to just convert it to turbo/gas with a much better result and same outlay.
Just my 2c worth.

you can go and get a efi harness and intake airflow meter and dizzy from the tb42e motor and it will bolt up you will need a efi sender unit and pump for the fuel it will cost you bout 800 to 1000 to do the whole job as long you are pritty handy with wiring and the mechnices of it

Ive done Relentless amounts of searching for threads and information on the subject, and i cant seem to find one simple answer. And no one seems to be able to show step by step what theyve done either, it makes it pretty hard.

Would anyone be able to direct me to the information im after?

I want to know, how to perform the job, where to source the parts from, the total cost of the parts, is it reliable, how complicated is it to complete the wiring, all steps and processes of the job, figures on how better the vechicle runs in terms of power, and fuel effieciency.

Ive pretty much got no clue, and im not wanting to jump in head first and have it ended up costing something rediculous.

All i seem to find is threads on people trying to find the same info, to which someone ends up saying dont bother doing it, do they know its not economical from comparing tb42e and tb42 wagons on fuel economy and power or are they just dribbling?

I found one thread where someone was saying something about his fuel economy increasing by 25% that would be fantastic, however as there is so much mismatched misinformed information its hard to work it out.

Its suprising someone doesnt put together a straight up kit, im sure thered be a few people willing to buy it.

Anyone out there actually TRUTHFULLY know what i need to do?

thanks

if your after better fuel ecomony your not going to get it out of any of the tb 42 or 45 range of motors carby or efi as everyone know thats they are all fuel drinkers. efi has a plus side as the motor dosnt run out of fuel on angles and steep hills as the carby model does do a td42 engine or v8 engine change if you want a more economical patrol
