cutout guards

Post by Guy »

where do you get the guards for hilux's that have the extra large wheel openings .. one guy on here had a green set on his lux.

I have seen a few here in Aus but being new to the world of Yota's I have no idea where the cool custom bits come from ..

The guy with the Green Hilux is RUFF. Have a search in the members section for his rig as I am sure that I have seen reference to these guards and who make them. He will probably chime in tonight and let you know where they came from anyway.

Cheers

Im pretty sure Ruff was running fiberglass guards with the bigger cutout and flare. But he wasnt real happy with em and now runs stock steel front guards with the openings cut and enlarged a bit.

Do it yourself. I have cut mine just got to paint them. Did it the same way ruff did it. I cut out about 1cm and then bent back a lip with pliers. ended up with an extra couple of centimeters room in the guards. All you need a is a jigsaw and an angle grinder.

I had a set of Glass guards made by a friend localy. They are a copy of the guards that AOR sell in the US. I wasnt happy with the way they fitted my hilux but Big Red Hilux(Nick) bought them from me and they actually fit his hilux a lot better. If you are interested in a set then PM GRUB from this site and he may be interested in making some more. Not sure on what sort of money he would want for them.

Thanks guys .. I am looking at getting a lux as I have just sold my Zuk .. needs to bea work as well as play truck .. so wide and low it will be also needs to be as capable than the Zuk .. so that means 35s and at least one locker (same as the Zuk) ..

thats why I was interested in the large guards, allow extra rubber with not to much lift ...

Anyone know if flared f/glass guards available as above for the later LN106 Hilux?

Or somebody who makes em?

Contact Richard from 4x4 engineering at Acacia Ridge in Brisbane he may be able to help. I bought these ones from him a few years ago. They are destroyed now.
