i have a 2001 gu patroll 35' tyres 4.3 diff ratio and high flow turbo
i am wanting to purchase a intercooler, not sure if water to air or water, was looking at the denco water to air intercooler
does any one have this set up and was there a difference with intercooler

denco certainly give you all the bits which make it just bolt on. I just finished putting a plazmaman one on, which looks like a rectangular denco. I believe the denco ones are rebranded PWR also, just denco also supply the bits in a vehicle specific kit. Never actually seen a denco one installed, but in a GU there is plenty of space to fit a bigger core especially if you move it to the back of the engine bay more. Its also not hard getting someone to make the flanges and brackets required for less than the difference cost for a bigger PWR. Or even have a look at the custom ones some of the guys on this forum are selling. They certainly would be better than fitting a generic barrel cooler, and they come in a lot cheaper too, for some of them.

It would help to know what the intercooler is going on. ie engine , engine mods, type of turbo....

Yes, I have this type of intercooler on a GQ TD42 and it did make a difference. I had it dyno tuned afterwards and it's now running 14 PSI of boost with EGTs that don't get over 500C. I never had an Air to Air so I can't make a comparison, but I'm happy with mine.
If you're getting the Denco kit make sure it's specific to your model of car and has every piece you need, because if it's a generic kit, there'll be pieces of piping missing and Denco won't sell you any other connections.

I bought the core and built the rest, custom PWR rad in the front EGT max 500 15Psi boost 380000km on the clock GQ

Not a gu but you would have plenty of room under there to fit a Air to Water the biggest problem with a off the shelve kit is thay don't have enough water volume to work, on a long climb thay slowly heat up.

not really a case of not enough water volume but rather radiator to small. they use small radiator and rely on the water absorbing and holding the heat the short time the engine is on boost which is typical for a petrol motor. diesel you want a far bigger radiator and theres little downside to having a radiator thats far to big.

We do a bolt on kit for the GU and GQ.
Only difference bing in the GQ you must fit a GU airbox to allow room ontop of the motor for the intercooler.
There are different radiator options available for various applications.
The standard radiator size we use on a standard GU turbo will be more than sufficient for 99% of applications.
Few photo's below so you can see the kit. I also have many more dyno graphs available if you wanted to see only intercooler gains.

Maybe also look at the Lamnova setups that Matt Mcinnes was putting together. They looked quite nice and they just used a radiator out of a ford Telstar with the pipes moded slightly on a GQ.

The manifold it's self is $440, Shipping I would have to get a quote on.

Also, we run an exchange program for the manifolds in most cases and generally charge a core deposit for the return of the standard manifold.
They are made from 4mm thick alloy plate.
Trialed with 3mm years ago, and its not quite strong enough over the long run.
