1hdt or 1hd-ft into hzj75

Post by Gaston »

Hi all,
I have a 97 hzj75 1hz cruiser and was Looking at putting a 1hdt or 1hd-ft in it. I've tried searching on here but I didn't really get what I was looking for. If any one could tell me which engine I'll get the most grunt out of, how easy or difficult it would be to fit, which (flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate to use) and if I can use the original gear.
Ur experience will be greatly appreciated cheers!! :)

How much do you want to spend ?
1hd-fte route would be the best way to go but more $$$$$ as you need to change the gear box aswell as clutch.

You would be very lucky to find a used 1hd-ft for sale

1hdt route would the easyst and cheepst and you should be able to use your gearbox

first up you need to find a 1hd-t or ft. THey aren't as common as the fte.

the ft will get you the most power because there isn't the electronic limitation of the fte.

The original motor will make plenty of power, but the 12 valve head won't flow as good.

but seriously if you're after power put in a petrol motor.

if you can find a 1HD-FT, go for it over the 1HD-T. But either are capable of a lot more power than they produce in stock trim.

Fit a Garrett turbo to suit your needs, 3" mandrel bent exhaust, intercooler, more boost, more fuel, EGT and boost gauges to keep an eye on it all, they pump out pretty decent power and use a lot less fuel than the Toyota petrols will to produce the same torque and power.

Would the 1hd-ft go straight in my hzj75? What about the clutch and gear box?
