26 spline front axels for sierra 1.3 WT

Post by wideaz »

hey guys are 26 spline crom moly axels worth getting for the front.
also im looking at either lockright lockers or sparton lockers for the front and rear

dont have 3000 plus for air lockers through arb so auto lockers it is.

when upgrading to the lockers should i upgrade the front axels to 26spline.

also should you use the couplers or my existing side gears.??????????????

thanks for your ideas

What is your set up? What size tires? Is it a daily or a weekender? How far are you going to build it up?

If your doing anything harder then fire trail with 31" and up cromos are always a good idea. They are good insurance in the bush. In saying that you will need to upgrade to the 26 spline to get them in. After all they are soooooo cheap now a days.
If you are low on cash right now i would suggest you take you current rear diff and put it in the front replace your old front with a 26 spline lokka and put it in the rear. but
If you hunt around you will find second hand air leakers that just need a new seal kit for cheap. If you are going to be using it as a daily I would suggest you put the lokka in the front so you don't have to deal with the scuffed tires and churping around tight corners not to mention the safety factor.
All honesty if it is a daily driver but you are going to be doing some harder bush tracks from time to time save your money and get air leakers.

I am sure there will be 50 others telling you differently. But its all up to you.

ive got a 1997 suzuki sierra running 33x9.5x16 with 2inch spacers
ive got 5.12s in the front and rear diff and a 1litre trans case
got my diff gears done by joe.

thinking about lock rights front and rear without couplers or
going 26 spline axels and using lockrights with couplers.

im confused on which way to go

its my weekender, i have another daily driver.

the cheap way is about 900 all up (lockrights f+r fitted) or
1500 (lockrights with couplers and 26spline fornt axels)

hope this helps

With that big of tires I would go with the cromos. Go with the cuplers you will regret it later if you don't. They wear out quicker without them. If you talk to Joe he will probably have some hook up or used stuff around that is a little cheaper. Secondly Joe now has his own maching to make axels

From my memory, you have a coily.

97'=coily

The axles are too small in length, And to my knowledge, there are no upgrades for coily axles off the shelf, They will have to be made custom.

when joe did my 5.12s in my front and rear diffs my front track width became about 2 inches wider then my back track width so im thinking he put WT axels in the front diff.

so if i have normal WT axels i can get WT 26 spline axels for the front.

I think you are terribly confused.

Coilys are wider than WT.

If Joe put a whole stock WT diff housing under your front, then yeah, run aftermarket axles.

But if it is all coily. Custom only! All 4! rear and front!

Search you tool!
