Re: Vitara Problem
have you checked for air leaks around the intake?
I have also seen a few choke issues on the zuki carbi's.
How clogged up is the fuel filter?
Have you put a electric fuel pump on it or replaced the mechanical one?

Re: Vitara Problem
it has new fuel filter on it this was done at the same time as the fuel pump (mechanical).
This even has the mechanic stumped..... If anyone has experienced this proplem or something similar I would really like to hear your thoughts.....
Thanks

Re: Vitara Problem
How long have you owned it? A few litres of bad fuel can do this thats all. I know what you mean by how long is string. Any fuel station could be giving sh!t fuel.

Have you checked for air leaks????????
Start the engine let it run. spray some carby cleaner around the intake tube and base of the carby without getting any in the intake. If it changes revs you have a air leak. find it fix it.

Re: Vitara Problem
I had a commodore that was doing a smiliar thing it ended up being a dirty batch of fuel that blocked the mesh on the pickup in the tank.

Re: Vitara Problem
Thanks for the replys
We have owned it since xmas and it drove perfectly for 2 months, we had it serviced and thats when it started to play up, it went back to the mechanic but he stood that and said "I dounno". So I took it to the mechanic that services all our work vehicles, so far it has had the following
new leads
new manifold hose
new fuel pump
new fuel filter
carb kit
inspection of fuel tank and pick up (no faults found)
inspection of cat and exhaust ( no problems found)
new coil
and still we have this intermitten problem.

Re: Vitara Problem
Is it a inline fuel filter or cartridge?
Re: Vitara Problem
Is the dizzy shagged? any float in the main shaft?
Otherwise a vac leak is a huge possibility.

Don't you fill that up through the dizzy cap?ZookStock wrote:Blinker fluid - Definitely sounds like the blinker fluid is low. Top that up and she'll be good to go.
Re: Vitara Problem
Valve clearances can do this too...
Re: Vitara Problem
I'm having the same issues. Mechanic says it's electrical, leco says it's mechanical....
Time to start throwing parts at it...
Please keep us up to date if you try anything else, I will do the same
EDIT : I just realised the OP has a carby, I have and EFI

Re: Vitara Problem
Have you changed your spark plugs .
Even though you have new leads , check there resistance and post up your readings . When you remove your spark plugs , do they all look the same .
Also what condition is your air filter in .
