Suzuki Swift Towbar 2009 How to Install

Post by Swerve »

Hey all,

I know it aint a 4wd but hoping someone may know.

Bought a suzuki towbar to fit to my wifes swift but unsure how to access the top of the rear chassis for the mounting plates. Have been searching Swift forums but all teh rice burners only do cosmetic crap and not actual tool work. Thinking I might be able the top of the chassis by pulling out the rear rail lights ? anyone ?

yeah, i pulled apart on the weekend for a look see.

looks like I will need to drill holes through the chassis ino the cargo area. bigger issue is appears the tow bar goes above the exhuast which means I may need to remove the rear bumper.

Was quite impressed with the interior plastic clips, push the centre in and they come out, push them back and out like a button to reinstall, push flush and they lock, so cool and easy.

Can anyone take photos if they have a swift and towbar ? at this stage half tempted to get suzuki to install it :)

yeah you will need to remove bumber but it is easy. Couple of screws in wheel arches, couple of clips underneath and I think two screws under the lights and it will all unclip. oh and you have to remove number plate. Have fun

A relative got a price from (a) Honda and (b) a few towbar joints on fitting a towbar to his new Accord. The price difference was unbelievable.

I don't know if Suzuki is the same but if you are thinking of paying someone to do the job ring towbar places as well as Suzuki, is all I am saying!
