hey guy,
need help with a issue with my truck, its a 89 GQ 4.2D. when i turn the car on none of my warning light on the dash light up (engine, battery etc) except for the glow light. it seems that its not getting any charge either.
it all started yesterday when i had the battery charger seating in the engine bay charging my dual battery. i had the bonnent just down but not clipped in so that the charger wouldnt get wet from a little shower of rain that came though. the misses then need to use the car and without looking jumped in and drove it down to the shops and back (15 min drive).
every since then i have had this problem.
any sugguestions?

Re: GQ 4.2D battery power problem
Check your fusible links as a start. Check for any broken connections or wires especially around where any physical damage may have been done by the charger.
A couple of ideas, hope this helps.

Re: GQ 4.2D battery power problem
i checked the fuse link and all the fuses in the drivers foot well. i also checked all the fuses that are next to the big fuse link.
there doesnt seem to be any damage under the bonnet from the charger what so ever, the postive and negative clips were still attached to the second battery. and the charger was still in the same postion.
where do i go next?

Re: GQ 4.2D warning light problem and not charging
mine did this last week after replacing my engine mounts. lol. my problem was simply a bad earth. as i have removed all the Nissan earth wires, and made my own. i even took my alt in, and had it checked. it came back all good, and i put it back in, and all good. so, just check all your earths and powers from the alt to the battery. an i cant recommend an external charge and sense wire in addition to the original Nissan one. mad a massive improvement to mine with the amount of power that is put out by the alternator.

i checked the earths and they seem all good. i took the power feed line of the back of the alternater and started the car, there was no read outon the multimeter. does that mean that ithe alternator is stuffed or could it be something else thats simple.
