Just bought my first zook

Just bought my first zook,
91 vitara,regoed,1.6L for $800

plans are hilux diffs front and rear,ute chop,airshocks and 4 links.

Any hints or tips with building a zook?

i also own a lux on 38s so have a bit of experience but not alot of suzuki background

Hey dude, sweet buy. You might want to look into 60/80 series or even Patrol diffs. The luxies are pretty narrow under a Vit.

Thanks for that Dex because I was going to just stick hilux duffs in with airshocks.now that I know they're narrow I'll find something else.

for what you are trying to do I would use the 80 series or patrol diffs for sure what size tyre will you be running will it ever see the road or just bush rig?

The others are good for width but they are heavy and the diff centers are huge.
I am using 60 diffs on my build but looking back I wish I used lux diffs to make it a little lighter and for diff clearance. I used the 60s only because I got them for next to nothing.
I have read some where some one is using a 80 front diff and the rear diff out of a late model IFS lux. It keeps the width without the huge diff hanging down.
Or you could put a wide kit of a standard lux front diff.

Spot on but the 80 front has a little stronger everything factory and bigger longer lasting cvs.

You could also put the wide body kit on a 80 front diff and run 1" spacers on the rear for an even wider stance.

there are kits for fitting hilux axles.

If you want width and high clearance pumpkins have a look at Range Rover axles as well. Wider than 60 series diffs and have a small centre, plus they're easily strengthened.

No offence Dex but id never use range rover diffs,mate has been through 8 centers with 35s and doesn't evEn flog it.

I think I'll go hilux front bunny rear because of the offset.
I will be keeping this regoed because it's a pita everytime I want to take my lux out not having a trailer.

Will be running a max of 37s,I'll use chromo cvs and axles and wind the carries right up.haven't had any troubles with that setup on my lux with 38s.
Picking the vit up on Monday night and the ute chop starts hopefully on Tuesday.

Just need to find a window frame and window from a lux or something similar.

Also have spare -44 15x10s and 3" spacers if I need them to widen it a bit

Anyone in Newcastle done a ute chop and is willing to show me how to mark it out,was thinking of using stringlines from the roof?

vitara doesn't have a offset pumpkin, so a hilux rear is a better choice.

Oh cheerin then that makes it slot easier.I've got spare hilux diffs with 4.88s in the shed.

Where do people usually get the coil mounts because I'll put these diffs in straight away with coils then airshocks it in a few months that way all the links are already done and will make airshocks easier later.

Was thinking of cutting the rear mounts off the vitara diff but then I can't really sell it.

have a look at this one. THis is a mates Vit he built up. Its not properly finished, but had a few good testing runs and it goes well

Does anyone know how the steering setup works when front lux diffs are used?
ive heard of using another passenger side arm on the drivers side but flipped upside down.
If this will work things are going to be amazingly easy because i have so many spares from my hilux.
