I think the powerful guy should not be welcome next year. They are dangerous and a huge risk to the spectators.

I think people like you should be banned and restricted to show and shine events in shopping centre car parks. its TUFF TRUCK not a doll show, if you are scared, move away, the point of this event it to prove who has the tuffest most capable, and crowd pleasing truck, stop being a bunch of pansys, if your not tuff enuff, dont come, buy the dvd instead, if tuff truck banned powerful 4x4 for actually giving it a go, they would only last a few more years, and the 'real' enthusiests will not bother because they can get more entertainment and geed up by taking themselves for a 4b. bring back the tuff truck form 5 yrs ago! not the politically correct one!

It's not about being politically correct, not about being scared. Their driving style is unnecessarily dangerous, they rarely have control of the vehicle, a few times they nearly ended up in the crowd.

You're a real enthusiast ? Consider if someone was killed by a high risk competitor like Powerful4x4 what that will mean for the future of Tuff Truck, you WILL be going elsewhere.

Funny thing though they say they didn't like his driving style but I bet they will put all of it in the DVD.

I have edited my initial comment, after reading it looked like I was having a dig at peter for wrecking the event. This is not the case at all, I think it was excellent, but I must ask myself, what is the difference from past tuff truck events from the beginning to now, a period of 8 or 9 years, are you suggesting that people’s lives have only recently become important? Or are you suggesting that people have become stupid and are unable to judge if they should move or not be standing there for that part of the track as the truck passes?

I'm refering purely to this TT from what I watched.

Most spectators are absolutely ignorant of what is going on on the track. They have kids running around their feet, babies in strollers, mates talking next to them, are intoxicated and completely distracted by vehicles around them (probably all these things at once) They should be assumed as totally irresponsible for themselves and unaware of the dangers of spectating an offroad sport.

You are absolutely right, a tame lame tt is better than no tt at all, BUT tt will lose the real enthusiasts, who come to watch people do amazing things with tuff trucks, push the limits to the extreme, put themselves and their trucks in a sticky situation, and make an attempt to drive them out of it.

I think you and I have different ideas on what a "real enthusiast" is. I would not label TT as lame because powerful4x4 were no longer competing. I think saying so is an insult to the other competitors. There are so many drivers and navis with years of hard earned experience and skill who demonstrate technique, controlled effective driving styles and practiced communication who make Tuff Truck a joy to watch.

I don't think it's amazing to drive drag style through a course bouncing all over the place, breaking bunting, nearly taking out the crowd as you go and then finishing it off with a roll, consistently.

As for getting excited about people destroying their truck, that is extremely offensive, I quiver at the thought of this happening to something that someone has invested so much time and money into building one, only to possibly wreck it. And think it is rude how everyone cheers when someone rolls over, but stand there quietly while the driver and navi skills are being put to use. Are you forgetting that at any stage the driver and navi can access the situation and call it for a recovery?

Are you also aware of the saying ' you'll never know unless you give it a go’? These trucks are built for this event. If you are too blind to see that you should stick to DVD’s and mags.

Trucks? Only one truck is being referred to here. They are built for tuff truck. They are all built for different reasons, some people want to win, some want to have fun others want to generate attention. I don't get what your point is? At any motorsport event crowd safety is a hugely important aspect and should be taken very seriously.

Unfortunately like most things nothing is likely to be done until it is too late.
It will only take a 30minute google to find a few threads like this and TT organisors will become very very liable because they were made aware of the dangers. Hopefully its not before I can get my ass into gear and get up there for the weekend.


I also love that lots more people take good photo's and the days of dirty 2mp phone pictures are going.

I am going to weigh into the arguement, about Team Powerful 4x4, apparently, they got a stern talking to by someone from the organising team, I was chatting to a track marshall at the mudrun on sat nite.
They were told to tone it down quite alot, or risk being DQed altogether.

If you want to know what sort of thing can happen to a well known comp when spectator safety is being breached, look at what used to be known as Nissan Trials.

Anyway, back to Team Powerful 4x4, I have never met the guys that drive, build and maintain the rig, but it is a crowd pleaser, but for the wrong reasons. Anyone can aim and stand on the loud pedal, and then flip, and roll over.

But it takes skill and lots of communication between navi and driver to make it look easy, and alot of teams made it look easy this year. Everywhere you looked, there was awesome action going on.

But I will whinge about 1 thing though, sat nights mudrun, why the hell did the manitous fill up the holes at the big tyres with rocks??
Most competitors had made it to at least the 80point marker, and only 2 drove up the tyres on friday night(Noble, and Wayno), and nobody looked like getting up on sat night, until the call to fill the holes up with rocks was made. Only the last 8 or so cars got the chance to try out the new and improved(and easier) last section, and then Tazz drove up being the last car.
Something sus perhaps??

Enough whinging, I currently have my 150 odd pics loading and will post a link and a few pics up when they are done.

Well done Pete, Tony, Steve and all the helpers that make Tuff Truck happen. We had good weather, great tracks(possibly the hardest TTC tracks yet), and were treated to some awesome displays of driving.

And I agree with Em 100% on the food at the day stages, I stood in the line for 10mins, and it didnt move at all, so I left, but great idea of giving away bottles of water on sunday, well done.

It was good to meet a few fellow Outers members, and be able to put faces to names.

Great weekend, bring on next year!!!

Great event!

Some great driving and also some very silly driving.

The tracks look much more fun in person, the cars look bloody great too.

We have a ways to go here in WA before we see an event like that but i think it can happen.

Looks like i may have to come over to compete next year!

Do you reckon it's good for their business? I certain wouldn't buy their stuff based on their @performance" at TT. It doesn't do anything positive for the sport or their reputation. Pandering to drunken yobbos isn't going to translate to sales on Monday morning.

Nothing wrong with giving it a go, but understanding what you are doing and actually driving the vehicle with skill is more impressive than pointing it in the right direction at the start line, planting the foot and hoping you might get somewhere near thefinish line.

Drunken yobbos would also find it entertaining if their mate Dicko flashed brown eyes and streaked every course, doesn't mean that should be encouraged

Good point! But those drunken yobbos own 4x4's aswell! And being usually younger they aren't about the technical side of things, it's let's build them big and thrash our cars types of people who would go and buy from there, and as already stated earlier here those yobbos were once again out in force at TT,

but just like any other event....

Oh and from the powerful guys thrashing last year, they got an article/advertisment in 4wd action mag, do you really think that would not have created interest and got them more customers??

And just so you know.
I'm not starting an argument, I'm all for the people who put in time and effort and work as a team! That's the kind of racing I like no matter if it's TT/ winch comps, smaller comps, it's always the relaxed smart drives that I enjoy the most! And if the good drivers know that a bit of right pedal is needed to make an obstacle, and they use it, that's just a bonus!!!
For e.g there's a photo of the bushrangie with front wheels airbourne, he's a cool calm steerer, but also gives it a bit when needed!

It's good to see some great photo's from this. I havent been to Tuff Truck yet, I havent been willing to take my young son along with all the bogan element running amock in the past. The last couple 2 years, I have wanted to, but other things have got in the way. we've been to lots of other events, like 4x4 masters, Woodpecker etc
From footage of last year, and the comments and pics from this year, the farktards in the Powerful 4x4 car would still leave me worried about having my son anywhere near it. I wonder how much the driver would value his 15minutes of bogan glory if he hurt himself or a spectator in the name of creating publicity for someone else's business?

I'm all for seeing blokes give it everything its got, but I would also want to see guys being realistic about what their rigs can and cant do.

of these two shots, DRS impresses me the most. The bloke cops a pizzling everytime the Megatwon gets mentioned, but he keeps coming back and giving it his best in a truck that was built in his front yard with mates helping (or was that with mates doing all the work?? ) This is what I like to see.

Twon didnt do too badly this year, he drove well, his navi(Mark) worked his butt off, They had some breakages like everyone did, but the MT was still driving on sunday arvo.
Ive got quite a few pics of the MegaTwon, and he is still a big ladyboy, but Team Newy Crew, had a good weekend, from what I saw anyway.

I don't know how many of you payed attention but dispite the bad driving and the less then safe way team powerful got there way around the track or though the tracks, when ever they were running there were almost double the amount of people watching then ANY other truck.
As soon as they were flipped back on there wheels and off to the next track all of those people would fallow.

I say let them drive like that after all it is Tuff Truck. But I would like to see the spectators viewing areas to be set a little further back on just about every track.

It was a great event and I had a blast. The competitors put on an awesome show.

It was finally good to shake some of your hands. Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet everyone I set out to. Ill see you at next years TT.

TUFF TRUCK 2011 was awesome! Great Trucks, Great Tracks, Great Drives, Great Navi's, & Great entertainment for families. Well done to the organisers & ALL entrants, unfortunately not all managed to complete the event due to breakages and lack of parts but 10 points for giving it a go and getting the crowd cheering ! I and all my mates that have been there for the past 6 yrs running will be back yet again and bringing more and more tt virgins ! :-D

Don't get me wrong though, good on Powerful for building a truck and giving it a go. Just reckon it would reflect a lot better on them if they actually drove the obstacles with skill rather than speed. Wouldn't it be better if next year people were talking about how well they drove and what a great vehicle build rather than again saying what bad drivers they were?

I watched their drive on jaw breaker on sunday, they drove very well getting to the 50 point mark without any un needed numbers. People in the crowd were yelling out to just pin it and to start driving crazy again...

Only once the 1 min time marker was yelled out did they use some numbers and put on a show.

I believe that in future they will end up toning it down a bit and laying down some decent drives again. That is if they are allowed back in.
