would a ccda and cams approved rollcage in an old comp rangie ute be road legal, or will it need to go through and get another engineers certificate????

Not legal and yes on eng. cert.

In nsw yess for ccda if designed correctly with regards to head space.

As for cams spec, it depends???? the side intrusion bar is a biggy.

its in vic and im pretty sure ut might not hsve a side intrusion bar

I lived on the nsw/vic border and was tossing up what state to get my gq regoed/engineered in. My Eng told me my ccda cage would pass in vic but not nsw.. think it has something to do with whether it is bolted in or welded??

ahh right just saw you are in VIC - have you checked out VicRoads "Vehicle Standards Information - 28" ?
It details Vic regs for cage design/installation - might be handy for you
