GQ CoilCab Dyno Results

Post by Wozza244 »

Took the rig in for a full tune up and tappets the other day.

4.2 with TD05 Turbo @ 11psi
3" straight through zorst
Front Mount Intercooler
269,000km

Before tuning it had
Torque 496nm @ 78kph
Power 92.2KW @ 110kph
Motive force 3645.5 N @ 78kph

After tuning it ended up
Torque 527 NM @ 76kph
Power 100.2KW @ 114kph
Motive Force 3874.6 N @ 76kph

The power increase is right throughout the rev range on the print out.
It does feel better but i kinda imagined a bit more increase, are these figures normal for this engine?

if you have a standard gq pump i think thats all the power they can make mabe time for a custom pump if you want more out of it

i had my gq coil cab with factory td42t motor in it dyno'd by motsons in october last year for the following results

before tune (spiking 17psi with fuel all over the shop)
720 lb torque
102hp

after tune (spiking 15psi and more acturate fuel; though they think my injector pump could be stuffed from contanimated fuel)
800 lb torque
111hp
motson reckon for the fuel and boost (what they call stage 1 pump) it should make more power and torque than this hence they think the pump could be stuffed. at the time i didnt have the money or time for them to pull it off.

also i've been meaning to get conversions into NM and KW for the read out but havent got round to it. when i do i'll through them up
'99 Gq ute - the "farm" truck now

'89 Gq Ute - Mudswap - Big, Bright Yellow and loves a bog hole

*newest edition to the stable* -- '92 gq efi wagon - rusty roof ready for the chop up!!!!!

If you have 111hp it equates to about 83kw, which means mine was making 123hp before the tune and 135hp after.
The boost controller was buggered, they replaced it because it was putting boost up and down all over the place apparently, i never really noticed it but if they say so.
He also showed me some fuel samples taken recently and really insisted that i get an extra water trap filter system fitted with a 2 micron filter, as most of the filters these days are about 30 microns and let way too much shit through to the pump causing massive damages. Looking at these samples i have ordered one right away!!

At DieselCare Tamworth mate, i must admit that all the mechanics in the shop were clean cut blokes who really seemed to know what they were on about, rather than the stereotypical "she be right mate, yeah just throw one of these into it" kind of mechanics usually found lurking around diesel shops.

my ute got tuned last week, 1988 gq turbo diesel, 217rwhp using 26psi and i drive it daily around brisbane, i get 550 to 600kms out of around 80lt, this is not conservitive driving. if i drive it hard or am towing ect, this drops to 400kms for around 80lts. so the bigger fuel pump, turbo and frontmount intercooler have improved my economy with more power.
