Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
Wouldn't bother with Fox. Not impressed by there coilovers at all. I have 3 different brands in my shed ATM on customers vehicles - Fox, Racerunner & Ballistic.
I would rate them as :
1. Racerunner
2. Ballistic - (very close 2nd as they have better reservoir & longer adjustment on body but Racerunner have swivel elbow standard & best hose on the market)
3. Fox - very distant 3rd as the heads are small, tiny reservoir & hose, crap thread & keyway locking system on body & piss poor quality in hand when layed down beside the other 2.
Best value for $$$$
1. Ballistic
2. Racerunner
3. Fox - again very distant when compared to others.

I've had tough dogs for a while, they work fine, but have replaced some already (lucky enough still under warranty), and have now being convinced and bought efs extreme shocks this time. Just need to fit them in the next couple months and see how they go.

Have heard efs are good but want 750 mm plus long and I don't think they come that long .udm wrote:I've had tough dogs for a while, they work fine, but have replaced some already (lucky enough still under warranty), and have now being convinced and bought efs extreme shocks this time. Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
I am running Dobinsons for 2 years, low kms maybe 20,000 kms but serious abuse off road and still going strong. The Cruiser has a 5 inch lift, flexy coils and no sway bars. WHen I but these on after Ranchos they were a dramatic improvement. The other benefit is they dropped out further and did not need any pin to eye adapators.
Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
The front ones i got are for 5" lift, and they are 500mm closed and 750mm open (these are the biggest they make)mick80 wrote:Have heard efs are good but want 750 mm plus long and I don't think they come that long .udm wrote:I've had tough dogs for a while, they work fine, but have replaced some already (lucky enough still under warranty), and have now being convinced and bought efs extreme shocks this time. i will be buying either fox or king 2.5 smoothies next time around but will more than

Im on my second set of efs extreme for 5" lift. They are alright. But there is better out there. Mine only last about 2 years before they are screwed.

Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
King have a shorter body for the length of travel compared to fox, they are also cheaper (from the states).
I have fox 2.0s on my 79 and will be upgrading to king 2.5s as they fit the travel better.

turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
Cheers mate what's the ride like??
Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
the ride is amazing compared to the EFS elite shocks i had in it which were amazing compared to standard. By far the most worth while mod ive done to the car.

Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
Depending on their use i would strongly recommend the use of limit straps on any aluminium shock that has pin mounts as the parent metal catastrophically fails around that pretty little tig weld if they are used to retain diff drop.
No biggy just factor another $300 there abouts on straps ,polyperformance has prices or ruffstuff.

Re: Fox shocks 4 my 80 series LC
I am lookin at running the superior race shocks, Main reason being the adjustability. With the fox, king etc they need to be pulled apart each time to change the valving which could be a real pain when setting them up at the start.
Also can see that as an advantage on a tourer so you can stiffen it up when loaded.
