You should already have pretty close to 200kw already with what you have.
With a very lazy top end kind of useless power curve though (good for a drag car, pretty useless for a 4x4)

What internal mods do you have?

Upgraded intake manifold? (biggest restrict or on a td42)

Have a dyno graph?

Yes I have dyno graph.
Hpc coated pistons. Inlet plenum, bored exhaust. fully balanced, bigger dual valve springs. Just to name a few things. My question was what would the whole lot be worth to sell. I want to do up a ls1. So I am considering selling my diesel setup.

Should post up the dyno graphs.

Probably around $6-7K Including turbo/pump etc...

Surely would be more then that I just paid 7k just for the motor October last year. Let alone the rest of the gear

I couldn't see people paying much more than 6k for it as a complete LS2 ehgine with all bolt ons and wiring is only around 5 to 6k...Good luck with the sale though.

I would think about 6 - 7 grand as well, most people will see it as a highly strung engine and not want to take the risk of it blowing after paying $10,000 or so.
So like any done up motor you will never get back what you put into it.
I am thinking what you have now would be better than an LS1 though.

Would I get more if I sold components individually. I am shocked it's only worth that much. Cost me nearly 20 grand to build it all.

Been thinking, an LS1 that puts out about 255kw like the one advertised at the moment in the for sale section would be (minus the 30% driveline loss) about 179kw at the wheels with less torque than the td42, and then add the modifications you will want to do to the LS1 and you be overcapatilizing on the build up again.
Not sure if your just chasing more power (addictive I know) or not, maybe you could spend the money on suspension mods (coilovers) or loosing some vehicle weight to give you more power.
Just be a shame to give away a very tidy td42 for an LS1.

I am always worried about my car. It's not supposed to put 200kw. I blew my old standard motor up and don't want it to happen again. At the time of building motor I didn't really even consider ls1. I would like ls1 for it's natural power output without worrying all the time whether or not I will get my car home from a trip. Speaking of suspension I have a good setup with xlink works really well. So do you think I would sell parts for more then I would as a complete kit?

I definately think you would sell the parts seperately for more than the total motor together. reason being is that alot of people paying a fair price for individual items will be better than one person trying to get a bargain, it has worked for wreckers for decades.
So yes other than de-tuning the td42 for reliability, you could piece together items off the motor that will be attractive for individuals doing similar to what you have. One guy might need a turbo to complete his conversion, another guy might need an intercooler to upgrade his conversion, you get the picture.
Alot of work but in the end if you calculate the items sold, you should get more than what you would selling it complete.
Items like a custom made airbox, custom manifolds etc are very attractive and should sell easily if you dont mind the extra work of advertising, phone calls, questions and the like.

Good luck man.
I might even want something you want to sell.

Yeah that's what I recon. Interesting to see how it goes. One other question what sort of kms do I want to be under on ls1. Is 200k getting to many or is that stuff all for big motor like that

You're looking at 5-6K for a reconditioned standard TD42 engine. So with all the extra fruit you'd be looking at around 10K but as stated above you'll only get that from a dedicated diesel addict as that price will (if you can do almost all the work yourself) get you an LS1 conversion.

Turbo you could sell for $500-600. Dont sell it to another TD42 owner though they are a horrible match for that engine.

Pump would be $1800 if its in good nick.

the problem is the amount of people that want the parts you are offering is very small.
Selling the lot separately is probably a better idea for you.

I tried for several weeks to sell my standard td42t and gearbox for $7500 with no luck. Heaps of interest in individual parts.
I finally succumbed and began selling parts from it. To date I only have a PS pump left and got $7650 back so far!

Well it depends what you do to that LS1.

Chuck a blower or small twin turbo kit on it and it will rip the td42 to shreds for torque output.
Somewhere around 900Nm at the crank.
