I would put on a 465 or a quady. A modified quadrajet would be the best option.

600 were ideal for the 5.8's but an over kill on the 4.2.

Well & truly overkill, a 350 is more than enough, my 253 was worked & the 350 fed it nicely.

Make sure you buy & fit a Fuel Bowl Vent Baffle, it will save you a whole heap of grief on hills.

Agree on a 350.
Also to improve torque out of sight fit a set of venturi sleeves to the 350.
A stock 253 has less vacuum then a 202. The sleeves get the air speed up and helps torque and throttle responce no end.

The 465 might be a goos fit, I agree, but then a 350 can be too big for a stock 5.0 if it's not set up right as well.

Check with Holley what dispacements the 465 is suited too, it would be my option over the 350 because it will give you better driveability and economy when you aren't using the secondaries. The 350 just pours petrol in all the time and only really suits a small cube motor when large throttle is used.

On the up side you can keep your existing manifold too
