Full Hydro steer to 80 diffs which ram?
Hey there beautiful minds.
ok i have 80 series diffs and want to be running full hydro.
its waaaay too much work to get my junk around the tight tracks of Milbrodale.
so ive looked at trail gears kit. it says it has a 6" double RAM.
I notice locktup4x4 have 8" and 10" rams.
who has done this sort of kit and what length ram is right for the application??
any help is appreciated.
Cheers

Ring chris (locktup) and get him to set u up with the PSC gear much better product than the trailgear rams, i think you would be looking at an 8" ram just check with him tho.

80 series need a 8 inch ram... Mine runs a 9in ram... My old ram was a 6inch stroke and never got close to full lock... Are you wanting a double ram or single ???? I might be able to help you out as I have a few orbitrals and will be needing 2 new rams for my

Re: Full Hydro steer to 80 diffs which ram?
8" PSC single 1.5" is all you will need. Best kit for your $$$ by far. Only thing better is Howe but not necessary & to be honest don't see the benefit.
The only thing is you need to ask yourself will you ever go full hydro, if the answer is YES then look into double end as you can still use in an assist system.

send a PM and have a chat to 75kruser off here. Recently put a hydro assist on his 75 series with 80 series diffs. Used the Locktup kit as far as i know.
whichever one he used, he rates it.

Re: Full Hydro steer to 80 diffs which ram?
sorry to clarify(i think it said it originally)
im wanting full hydro.
i figure why do it twice, just say f*ck it and go full hydro.
i will speak to chris from locktup for sure before i purchase.
matt can you flick me a message on what you have and what you want for it mate?
grant chasing full hydro.
mick, haha its only 120. part of the plan is to fix this issue, although it is budget dependant. i would rather put hydro and stuff on it first and do wheelbase later as it will blow cost out with new shafts, links, change to single transfer etc.
brooksy yeah double end is the go. man ive seen some good double ender shows at bucks shows etc.

Re: Full Hydro steer to 80 diffs which ram?
use your tie rod and a marker and measure it yourself....
put a mark at full lock and turn to opposite lock and put a mark, than measure. your set up may be different to others. bad thing with hydro is if the ram is longer than it needs it will bend stuff till it get to full stroke (if your still trying to turn)... it can be over come by putting stops inside rams but better to measure your self and get it right
just a thought

Gordan nothing is wrong with Hydro Asist, but on rigs like ours... were we dont have to have rego full hydro is better the steering links are gone and we can modify it to get more flex out of the front without having to worry about steering arms, X over steering etc...
For a Rego truck hydro is the only option if you want to keep it regoed.. Hydro-Asist is only worth wild on trucks running 38s or bigger.. any thing under that the standard Power steering is enough...

Re: Full Hydro steer to 80 diffs which ram?
gordon,
for me personally i have a draglink infront of the diff.
its a constant concern. the way the tuff truck tracks are with so many rocks in the way.
also the tracks are sooo tight now.
some turns are about 110degrees and not wide.
its a matter of 10 back and fills with power steering or 1 with hydro.
and i figure if im going to upgrade from power steering i may as well go the whole way to full hydro.

Re: Full Hydro steer to 80 diffs which ram?
twon you might be suprised how well hydro assist works, that was the advice the emo gave me.. and he was correct, the only reason i didnt go full hydro was the link setup in mine, as this is going to change ill then change to full hydro purely to beat you on the travel ramp

Hey mate,
as joel said mate, one finger to turn the wheel lock to lock,I think we spoke about that at TTC.All you need is the orbital,8" ram, traillgear pump and the steering shaft for the orbital, when you get all that come over take some measurements(or ask bogan to fab up the same mount as mine,,sorry boges) and we`ll organise the right hoses for ya.I spoke to ryan at snake for my bits,he did me a good deal, but i bought a crap load off him,so he`d want to give a good deal!
